After arriving for a wedding and being recommended to this hotel, we were very suprised to see the contemporary interior.

Our room was fantastic, kitchenette and large bedroom area.

Great location.. highly recommended. Only flaw we found was that it is a 3 story with no elevator.

Room Tip: Be sure to check out west coast waffles!

It really doesn't look like much from the outside, but make no mistake, the rooms (at least ours was) are completely up to date and in great condition. We had a room on the parking lot side (2nd floor) for two nights - it was very quiet!! Our room was much more than we expected - a suite with a full kitchen (pots / pans, dishes, etc), entry way closet, fine bathroom, sitting / living room, and a separate bedroom (w/ king size bed). AND, its just 1 block away from central Victoria (Parliment building, bus station, etc), lots of restaurants / bars / cabs within 1-2 blocks, yet this hotel is on a quieter street. Would definitely recommend this place, and the price was more than reasonable... I shopped around quite a bit. For something with a kitchen (so you can save money by making meals), this was by far the best value.

Room Tip: I specifically requested a room on the quieter side of the building and not on the ground floor, both of which were fulfilled - in fact we got a corner unit. It looked like they have rooms in the basement / ground level - I don't know what those are like - but some people may not like that kinda thing. The 'quiet' side is facing a big parking lot with another building on the opposite side, so not great to look at, but probably quieter than the street side... although the street is not a main street.

The Helm's Inn had an awesome location! Across the street from Beacon Hill Park, next door to the Royal Alberta Museum, 2 minute walk to the wharf and Fairmont Empress. What else could you ask for? I stayed in room 306, it was newly renovated with a separate bedroom, a wonderful king sized bed, kitchenette, table for 4, a sofa and flat screen tv...for $110.00/night! I will definitely stay here again AND recommend to friends and family! Don't hesitate yo stay here at all!!

Spent 2 enjoyable nights at this place in Victoria, B.C. The outside is a little dated, but the suite we had was probably the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It is located very close to many attractions in Victoria, i.e. Museum of B.C., parliament, inner harbor.

We have stayed at the Helm's in a number of times over the past 15 years. Comfortable, relaxed, friendly staff. Full kitchen. We save on food and have a more relaxed schedule by cooking a lot ourselves. Fresh fish from the Fisherman's Wharf, or Finest at Sea. All of the downtown is within a 15 minute walk. Royal British Columbia Museum and Inner Harbour at within 2 minutes.

Room Tip: Rooms over the parking lot are quieter. 207 was our favourite.
