the Hotel itself is old but has a nice elegance... The staff is extremely helpful professional room was large bathroom antiquated very small the selves were minimal and did not hold much at all the shower and bath wonderful constant hot water rainwater head for shower. very quiet clean smelling beds and pillow very clean and no odor which is always a plus in a hotel. The best thing about this hotel is where it is located you can go just about anywhere by walking and it is beautiful walk the only complaint was the shelving in the bathroom otherwise great property and location

We had our wedding at the Fairmont in Kona (and loved the service and staff there!) so we were excited about our stay here. The receptionist was pleasant and the room welcomed us with soft lights and freshness. After we dropped off our bags, we went our way for some dinner and dessert.

On our way back, we decided to explore the hotel. There were a few events going on that night. Before heading back to our room, we were curious if we could get to the roof so we pushed the button on the elevator, and to our surprise, it lit up. As the door to the elevator opened up, a hotel employee stood in front of us, and demanded, "What are you doing here?" We politely explained that we were exploring the hotel. He quickly responded, " You're not supposed to be up here," and got in the elevator and pressed the lobby button. I was surprised that he didn't ask which floor we were going to - that would have been the normal, polite and professional question to ask. As the elevator went down, he continued to explain that the reason we were able to have access to the roof was that there was an event going on and that the roof access was for those guests. As he was going on a rant, we got our key card out to head back to our room. We noticed an immediate change in this employee's attitude and tone - it was a moment when he realized he made a mistake by passing judgment on us, and was thinking of ways to make things better.

Another issue we had was with the shower drain. Unfortunately, we had the shower with the drain that hadn't been routinely checked. It almost flooded the entire bathroom floor and we did call the front desk but since it was getting late and we didn't want to be bothered, we let it go, hoping that it would be fine in the morning. The water drained by morning and I was able to lift the block of tiles off to get access to the drain. As you can imagine, it was clogged with hair (and a small band-aid). It was gross having to remove it but I did, and after that, it drained fine.

We did let the front know about these two issues. Hopefully in the future, everything will run smoothly and that hotel employees will be pleasant at any given time.

Room Tip: For free wifi, sign up for the President's card.

Fantastic hotel great location, rooms are really very good, only wish we had more time to use the hotel.
Restaurant located in the centre of the ground floor of hotel.
Staff were great got us to our rooms without problem even though after midnight when we got in.
Even the Labrador, hotel employee was happy to great us.
I would recommend this hotel to any one Top Hotel in Top Location.
You can walk to just about any main area of town in 15-20 minutes.

The hotel is beautiful and historic ( interesting old photos by the glamorous ) we were on the ninth floor and our room consisted of 2 queen beds as our daughter came along with us. ( we also brought the dog) The service was exceptional and the room nice. We slept very well and found the beds comfortable. We shopped close by walking to Nordsrom's, Lululemon and I went to the art galley. We walked to the cinema on Granville St. and had dinner in the hotel at Notch 8 and also at the Cactus Cafe. There is a bakery on the east side of the hotel that we visited twice for tasty treats. We had a nice time and hope to come back again. The pool looked beautiful although we didn't bother with it this time. We enjoy trying all of the down town hotels

Our room was quiet, well appointed, but a little dated. The beds were comfortable and it is central to all CBD activities. Having stayed at several Fairmont properties now I feel they are relying on reputation. Fairly expensive for the experience. $pm check ins are far too late.

Room Tip: Away fro the lifts
