We recently spent 2 days on the Rocky Mountaineer travelling from Jasper to Vancouver and staying for a night in Kamloops
We travelled in Silverleaf.Everything about it was amazing. We loved the scenery, the coach was very comfortable and we were well entertained and looked after by the carriage hosts. My husband has to have gluten free food and he was well catered for.We met some lovely people who helped to make the journey even more memorable.
Can’t think of one single negative ....everyone should do this trip when visiting this area of Canada

Fantastic service. Must do the gold leaf, paid a bit extra but well worth it drinks included, but if you want more you need to ask for it, although we were in the last row of our carriage. Views were spectacular. Luggage is delivered straight to your hotel room. Food was definately first class.

Everyone on this tour was amazingly knowledgeable and was there to make sure you had a great day each from morning till night. The transfer of luggage from place to place was so helpful and one had no worries.
Supper trip, the train was outstanding and the scenery and wildlife was there thoughout the trip. Service was at its best.

Overall, very nice trip. Just not worth the extremely high cost. We took the Goldleaf level Rainforest to Goldrush trip in mid-June, where the train started in Jasper, to Quesnel, Whistler, ending in Vancouver. We started in Calgary with RM, and they use a motorcoach thru Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper. While the domed train is beautiful, and the area near Jasper is beautiful, a few hours out of Jasper it became a "tree tunnel" with none of the big views advertised. We were in seats on left side of train, and spent most of the day looking at an embankment or tree tunnels. Very disappointing. The Sandman Hotel in Quesnel used by RM is awful. Run down and dirty, with stopped up shower full of bacteria. Made that 1st day a BAD day. 2nd day to Whistler, views got better and were nice, particularly from afternoon on (morning was just some swampy marshy areas). We liked Fraser River Canyon. Whistler is a great town. Wish we had been there longer than one night, but RM does not offer that option. Best scenery is Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper, where you are taking a motorcoach anyway. Best plan is to fly to Calgary, get car, drive to Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, then reverse route back to Calgary. No train needed. Good roads and easy drive. You will see all the best scenery that way. Domed train is lovely, and meals in dining car are nice. RM is stingy on the "shared" deserts. Stingy on offering only trail mix as snacks. For the high price, RM needs to be offering fresh cookies or brownies or ice cream. Days on train start extremely early and go for at least 12 hours, if train stays on time. They got our bags at 5:15 the 1st day! So unless you like to get up early, that schedule is not restful. We enjoyed the RM train, but did not think it worth the money. So if you are very rich and won't feel ripped off by overpaying, by all means, do it! It is fun. If not rich, and your money matters to you, don't do it, and see the best area easily by car or motorcoach.

Hello chopperjune2018,

Thank you for this review of your Rainforest to Gold Rush journey. I am saddened to read that the scenery along the route did not live up to your previous expectations. I am, however, glad to read that you enjoyed the glass-dome windows in GoldLeaf Service. Your feedback regarding accommodation is appreciated and will be passed along for further review. I hope that you have had a good journey back home and are able to keep fond memories of your time in the Canadian Rockies.

Kind regards,
Ashley

From the moment we arrived at the station we were given the 1st class treatment. Shaking our hands, welcoming us on board and continuously seeing to our needs while on the train. What an amazing experience! Adding the beautiful scenery and unbelievable wildlife sightings - bears, moose, long horn sheep - they seemed to stop and pose for our pictures - it was an experience I will not forget.
