So disappointed with this hotel, we are here for 3 nights, in fact our whole Canadian trip is Fairmont based. Thank heavens we know this hotel is not representative of Fairmonts, otherwise we would be cancelling all our other bookings.
We booked a lake view suite. The room was shabby generally and smelled of unpleasant disinfectant. There was a large portable ac unit near the window. One whole window was obscured with a wooden panel with two round holes, one was apparently for the disconnected ac hose, the other was taped over with blue paper. The mosquito screen was completely detached at the bottom. A part of the window frame was unpainted raw wood. The most telling thing was the flower pot on the balcony filled with dead flowers. This whole room was uncared for, and so were we.
After several trying conversations we were shown a nearby room, which was little improvement but by no means Fairmont standard and we have to sleep somewhere. We have stayed in much better ‘budget’ hotels.
Rustic does not mean poorly maintained, shabby and dated!
Reading recent Trip Advisor comments we wonder how one gets a refurbished room? Clearly not by being President Club members.
We were expecting comfort and relaxation, all we have had is hassle, and 3 nights still to go!More
