We had a family group of 9 and 2 friends of the family. Check-in was unbelievably long. It appeared the check-in process was more about getting us to participate in the purchase presentation than check-in. After two hours of signing papers and getting room key bracelets assigned and programmed, we were in our rooms.
We had two, two bedroom suites and a one bedroom suite all on the second floor. The one bedroom and a two bedroom were ocean view. All three rooms were very nice and service was very good each day. The only issue we had with the room was the next day we heard a faint sound of a jackhammer and when the door was opened, we found the dismantling of a building next door. Not too bad but a distraction.
In April, 2015, you could walk out the front entrance and catch a cab or bus. Now, at least a mile has been added to the entrance road and it doesn't appear walking to the main road is permissible. Cabs are all reasonably priced. Three of us caught a cab to the southern part of Puerto Vallarta for 340 pesos. The resort is in Nueva Vallarta and that cab ride was about 45 minutes.
Speaking of the resort, it is expansive and spread out. there are walk paths to all attractions, resort buildings and beaches. The grounds are very well maintained. There is a lot of time spent by workers keeping the grounds pristine. There is plenty of construction taking place because of the expansion of the resort grounds and Cirque du Soleil building a theme and show park in collaboration with Vidanta, the owners of the resorts. I would think in a year or two, the entrance will change again.
We ate in town and within the resort grounds. We had breakfast at Cafe del Lago most mornings. They have a very large buffet style serving with a vast variety of foods. I would recommend this restaurant but be warned after 9 am this place is packed. we also had meals at Gong, Burgers Custom Made, Azur and Havana Moon. It seemed like we were at the restaurants a minimum of 2.5 hrs. service was good and the meals for the most part were good to great. I would suggest when signing your tab, make sure you also write whether you paid cash, card or meal ticket to avoid some discrepancy at check-out. I still do not know why the key bracelet can not be used for charges to your room. Maybe by the time we return, this will be in practice.
At check-out, there were a couple of issues with charges and discounts but mostly, all was well. We would recommend this place for a family vacation. Plenty of pools, beaches and attractions. If the check-in and out were better, this would have been and Excellent.

Room Tip: Odd number are ocean view. I would say floor 4 and above

This property is very large and quite beautiful. They have several really top notch restaurants on the property and an amazing pastry shop. None of this is obvious on first glance so you have to really pay attention/read the brochure and plan out your time if you want to experience much of it. Words of caution: Getting around is not for the faint at heart. They have electric carts to take you around but they are not frequent and you have to make connections so make sure you add that time in. We were told by other travelers that they walked the all the paths on the property and it was about 5 miles. When we arrived our room was not ready. We were hot and tired. I asked if there was somewhere we could freshen up and a lady at the ? timeshare counter told me I could use the "pool shower", really! what a welcome. When we did get into our room it was not clean. I had an allergic attack from the dust, we had to ask them to clean the room which they did, but it wasn't great and we had to ultimately buy allergy pills. The lobby has many desks and they are not clearly marked with what service they provide. Several of the concierges we spoke to had no knowledge of the events listed in their brochures. We asked one to sign us up for the food tour and she never did it. When we appeared the next day to go they did not have our name down at all. Thankfully the tour guide did not have a lot of people and was willing to take us. He was really good and the tour was great. The signs on the property are not accurate we spent a very long time following inaccurate signs to get to the taxi stand one day and by the time we got there ultimately decided not to bother. Our room key stopped working one day after coming back from lunch. We asked for help and waited for over an hour before someone came to fix the problem with very little apology.

As owners in Vidanta for 13 years, this may be our favorite resort of them all. It is 5-star quality all-around. The rooms are perfect, we had a 7th floor, ocean view that we enjoyed each morning and evening. The staff are kind and accommodating. We love the Joy pool staff at the Bliss pool...especially Salvador and Elizabeth. The restaurants are yummy and wait staff is exceptional, especially at La Cantina and the Social Club (although the waitstaff at each restaurant we went to was wonderful). I had a massage by Rosalina that was relaxing and high-quality, the spa itself is lovely. We never left the resort because there is so much to do! Wave pool, lazy river, and kids area is great for families. And you can swim in the ocean, which steps from the pools.
Wooden walkways are convenient and well maintained. But if a shuttle is needed, they are easy to find, and you don’t have to wait long for them. The market with a full grocery, wine, cheese, and meat counter are exceptional.

My only very minor suggestion is to perhaps do an inventory of the Bliss pool lounge chairs. I sat in a handful that were broken in the back (the strings used to move the chair up and down are flimsy and easily break) and had to move chairs around to find one that properly worked. But that certainly did not deter any level of relaxation. Thanks, Vidanta! See you next year!

Our children joined us at the Grand Bliss with their 4 and 5 month old babies for a week. Unfortunately after the second day our 4 month old grandson ran a fever and had breathing difficulties. Frightened, we informed the resort and they sent the on-call physician, a lovely young bilingual woman whose call room was down the hall from us. She examined the baby listened to his lungs and recommended that he go to the hospital for X-rays and treatment. We were taken through the service elevator to a vehicle waiting and transported to a very clean and efficient hospital. Luckily my daughter and son in law speak Spanish so they got more detailed information. They called an attending pediatrician who diagnosed the baby with a reoccurrence of bronchiolitis, probably exacerbated by the change in climate. They administered drugs on site and gave us drugs to use thereafter and recommended a return visit to monitor the baby's progress. During the rest of our stay at the resort, the on-call physicians called or stopped by to check on the baby and reassure his parents. She helped the parents of the other baby with strategies to isolate and protect their baby. While there were hospital charges, the resort did not charge for their services. We were very grateful but rushed at checkout, so we are using this vehicle to give them kudos.

Perfect place to visit with sister-in-law whom I hadn’t seen for several years. Attentive staff throughout resort. Food delicious. Plenty to do within resort though we made 2 short visits to nearby towns. Best tamarino margaritas ever!
