This place was a home from home.
When we walked in the door in was very spacious and very clean.
It was an ideal place to use as a base for going out on day trips all over.
The hosts met us on arrival and we saw them on the day we left both were very warm people to talk too.
2 bedrooms with bathrooms is a very good idea.
I would give this 10/10

“A really lovely and spacious cottage”
Reviewed 8 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

The cottage is very clean and well appointed with 2 ensuite bedrooms. We liked the fact that no dogs are allowed and it is a no smoking property.
Located in a picturesque part of England, accessed from narrow country lanes, this is a far cry from the town/city life we are used to. Granted the nearest pub is a bit far to walk to but The Six Bells really is worth a visit for the home cooked food.
We used the cottage as a base to go to Eastbourne, Rye, Hastings & Battle and (not so) Glorious Goodwood. We also visited the Bluebell Railway on one of the wet days.
Overall a great cottage which we would wholeheartedly recommend!

“A wonderful weeks stay in May.”
Reviewed 3 July 2017 for a stay in May 2017

What a wonderfully appointed cottage. A perfect place to stay in a perfect location. The cottage was comfortable and well appointed, with lots of lovely room to sit either all together or sitting in the sun lounge. Having the two bedrooms both en-suite was great, meaning there was no queuing for the bathroom. It was also lovely to be able to sit outside, as we had the most perfect weather.

The village of Chiddingly was lovely and eating at the local pub was great. The food was really tasty.

Barley Cottage was the perfect base for some National Trust properties and we managed to visit 12. Visiting the South Coast was wonderful.

A perfect cottage and a perfect base.

“An amazing and relaxing place to stay”
Reviewed 30 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We stayed for one week in Barley cottage and it was a very well equipped cottage with very good facilities and furnishings.
The owners were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
We spent the week travelling to various National Trust properties and managed 11.
The coast is very accessible from this cottage too.
Will certainly be recommending these cottages to other friends.

“Great accomodations, great location, great hosts!”

Visiting from the United States, and spent a delightful week at Barley Cottage. Katie and Michael were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. It's obvious that great effort has been given to furnishing the cottage, coordinating the decor, and providing everything which could possibly be needed. The accommodation was just as advertised, and maintained inside and outside to a very high standard. Especially enjoyed the beautiful flowers blooming in the garden, and the maps provided showing the wonderful public footpaths in the area. All in all a great stay, Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return. Highly recommended.
