This beach is very beautiful, but there are lots of tourists. It is better to go past the sunbeds and to the outer edge of the beach where it is less crowded.

Incredibly beautiful. Welcome to paradise! Walk across the lagoon from the huge free parking, and visit the little island. Pink sand, turquoise water, lapping waves, beautiful shells. Simply glorious!
For kids and buckets and spades, and inflatables stay with the lagoon for a perfectly lovely day, but for the sheer beauty, cross to the island and bask in the glory!

Loved Elafonissi Beach. The drive from Chania was not too difficult although you traverse some high mountains which are picturesque and there are goats in the road everywhere. We learned to bahhh like them! The beach is lovely with pink and and a lagoon like feeling. Only bad point - the hordes of tourists! But I guess the secret is out! Will definitely go back!

The tour guides sell this trip as a beach in the ‘top 10 beaches of the world.’ It’s pretty but you could put 10 beaches in the UK before this one! The sand is described as pure white - it’s really not ... and the pink is just a bit of washed up shell (don’t believe the edited ones on Instagram) Toilet situation - €1 and 2 toilets for a beach that has about 1000 people each day and the rude staff push infront of the queue and walk in... €9 for 2 sunbeds which are crammed together
It’s good for a change of scenery but was a let down for me...

We rented a car and drove from Chania to Elafonissi Beach. The drive was about 1 hour on windy and curving mountain roads. It is a bit of a challenging drive. Their 2 lane roads are the width of one car! LOL We are from the US so we didn't have the challenge of driving on the other side which was good, but some of the mountain roads have no guard rails and there is a sheer cliff on the right side...super scary as you are passing a large tour bus!
The beach is easy to get to, with good signage along the way, and our car had GPS guidance. The parking was easy and near the beach. We paid 9 Euro to have 2 lounge chairs under an umbrella for shade. Water is crystal clear but COLD!! It was probably 68-70 degrees. This beach also has a large lagoon area which would be great if you have little kids or if you are a bit scared of the actual sea. The pink wasn't as vibrant as I had pictured in my head, but was still pretty neat and unique. There are essentially no waves. We snorkeled out by some rocks and there were a few fish, not too many though. There was a store near the parking area where you could buy floaties, towels and souvenirs.

Food:
The beach did have 2 kiosk style areas that had some sweet and savory pastries along with other snacks like chips and candy. Also bottle drinks like beer, soda, water etc. Near the parking area there is an actual restaurant, but we didn't even look at menu so I can't speak to their food.
