Nice sunny Tuesday morning but it was very quiet. Nice to read some of the history and know what used to be here, clearly very popular at one time and worth a vist if in the area.

It’s been a couple of years since last here - it’s an easy drive down for us down through the Meon Valley and also probably closest beach. Warm Sunday at end of June and surprised to find plenty of parking in pay and displays (where strangely prices currently range from 50 - 90pph). However, there’s also free on street parking along esplanade if you can find a spot or around the town where it’s also free on Sundays (otherwise free for 1hr only). Numerous cafes/ice cream places and toilets in a block in main car park area. Ok so beach is stoney but that’s fine and there’s also some long and wide areas of green where you can sit/lay out or even have a barbie if so inclined. At one point there used to be a pier and tower around where the memorial garden now sits. And the bonus = great views across Solent towards IOW!

This is a good place to walk the views beautiful overlooking the isle of white lots to see and do fantastic for bird watching ships and yachts everywhere to see but if you do not fancy walking just park up at one of the many free car parks and just enjoy the views even better when the sun shines good tip take some binoculars to take a far reaching view

We love the beach at Lee on the Solent. Okay, it's not sandy but the grandchildren love paddling, looking for shells and unusual stones and Pirate Cove, a great play area. Rolling down the slope in the play area keeps them occupied too! Lovely long flat beach path means anyone needing a wheelchair, babies in buggies etc can access the whole sea front too. There are benches all the way along, local shops over the road, several places to get drinks and ice creams or more substantial meal at Leon's. Great little amusement arcade. The east end of the beach is quieter, by the angling club, central part has the play area and west end has beach huts, the Shack for drinks etc. Great views all the way along of the Isle of Wight plus there is always plenty to see with the sailing boats, cruise liners, jetskis, glider, windsurfers etc. Great place to visit in all weathers :)

Stopped here for coffee and had what can only be described as hot water with milk. This is a shame as the view is amazing and the tables and chairs outside offer a comfortable stop off point along the long promenade. If you are a coffee drinker probably better to avoid the coffee and have soft drink. However don’t be in a hurry to use the loo as there are none available (as informed by the staff).
