We used this company before and were well pleased. Our last trip was just me and my husband. This one included our 4 kids and their spouses as well as our 6 grandkids ranging in age from 7-15 yrs of age. I was in touch with Elizabeth from Whale Watch Cabo to make arrangements. She was courteous and very helpful. I felt I’d made a perfect choice.
The main purpose of the trip was to share my love of whale watching with my family. This fine, family run company made that possible.
It’s very costly to arrange a trip for 16 passengers. The group sales price brought the price down and paying cash helped too. The price went from $80 pp to $56 pp. They also arranged for us to be in a larger boat. It comfortably held our large group. Motion sickness medicine and bottled water were included in the price if needed. It was a private tour.
Our guide, Lisa and Captain Santos were great! They made us feel safe and comfortable. Lisa was very knowledgeable, answering any questions we had. Captain Santos made the ride as smooth as possible. Still, you are in the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. When you speed from one sighting to the next, it can get pretty bumpy. Safety regulations were followed.
Lisa offered to ask the Captain to stop moving anytime in case anyone needed to move from the front to the back of the boat.
We saw lots of humpback whales, sea lions, a sea turtle and dolphins.
On one part of the trip a humpback mother and calf were being relentlessly pursued by numerous boats. Lisa explained how stressful this can be to these gentle giants. There are regulations to avoid this troubling situation, but unfortunately many times they are ignored. We left to find another viewing site immediately. Once again, this company is very respectful not only to their clients, but to the magnificent mammals encountered in their daily whale watching trips.
Just before we were due to head back to the marina, we were surprised by 3 very active whales. We still needed to make a stop by El Arco and the sea lion colony nearby. Captain Santos graciously extended our tour so we could enjoy more whale action before we left. We are very grateful to our Captain.
Our marine biologist, Lisa, presented information in a way that both the adults and children enjoyed and learned from. Her excellent commentary entertained even those who didn’t enjoy the motion of the boat, helping to divert their attention. Lisa also took photos which were sent to us at no extra charge. This is not a common practice.
I highly recommend this company! You can feel that whale watching is more than a job to these folks. It is a passion they are eager to share.
