We did the 3 day tour of waterfalls and villages.
I don't want to ruin any surprises for you...
We aren't one for tours and the morning of the trip at the Hostel may seem like a unorganized mess but it all comes together for a great trip. Si our guide was amazing. Taught us a lot about the land, cultures, languages, plants and live stock.
First night we went to his village and met his family and neighbours...again, don't want to ruin anything for you but we had a very nice and spacial night.
Is our guide made us feel very comfortable and made sure we were all good and "ate full" at all meals.
The Scenery of the county side is beautiful! Wonderful hike, trials and waterfalls.
Definitely a highlight of our trip in Laos.

Side note* bring toys, school supplies and snacks for the children of the villages.... well worth it!

This was an awesome experience. We chose to do the trek with Tiger Trails, who developed the trek with Don Khoun village, the boat is from the village, local villagers are employed as guides and a percentage of the price of the tour goes straight to the village. We were part of a group of 6 which was fun and kept the cost down.

We had a one hour boat trip down river to the village where we met our guide and set out for about an hour before stopping for a snack. We walked another 10-15 minutes to the base of the falls from where we basically scrambled up the falls. There is enough challenge to make it fun, the guides made sure everyone was ok and pointed out some of the local "wildlife" along the way. At the top we were rewarded with a refreshing shower and a simple but delicious lunch.

We returned to the village via a bush track, sampled some of their locally distilled Lao Lao whisky, then headed back up river again, with a stop at Pha Kuang cave which served as a hospital and a safe place for religious artefacts during the US bombings of 1964-73.

This was a really enjoyable one day experience with good variety, the guides were friendly and helpful and our whole group had fun.

It's great to see tours like this which put so much back into the local community.

We arrived in this little town and we met Harps (the boss of Tiger trail), he was extremely nice and friendly. He spent a lot of time explaining us the various visits/tours we could do in Nang Khiaw.

The first impression was really good!
Because we were in the raining season he looked carefully to the weather conditions to propose us the best trip.
Older information, Tiger trail was the first agency for trip in the town (Nang Khiaw) and the money collected goes to the local communities!!!
Finally, he doesn't lie and the guides are really competent for a beautiful landscape!!
Valério, Dominique and Léandre
Ps: 100 waterfalls are a magic moment!

Went on this tour with Nong Khiaw Adveture Tours owned by Mr Mang. It was only 170k Kips per person. You could also do it yourself by arranging for a boatman to take you to the village where the trek originates and get a local guide for a fraction of the price. It was really good value at only 20 USD per person for what we paid for the organised tour though. Hiked through a minority village, rice fields, and climbed up a series of waterfalls to get to the main "big" waterfall. Passed by many farm animals such as boars, goats, buffalo and even a small tobacco plantation. Great if you have some time on your hands in Nong Khiaw.
