Our stay at South Lodge was delightful. The cottage is cosy, immaculately clean, comfortable and peaceful. Set in the stunning Essex countryside, a short distance from the delightful 'chocolate box' village, a total retreat if desired, close enough to large towns to explore all north Essex has to offer!
Archie provided a welcome pack of essentials and many extras that were most thoughtful and much appreciated.
We will return for a longer stay later in the year.
A lovely stay in the lodge, set in beautiful parkland and a suitably quiet location. The house was suitable for a short shooting weekend away and provided just the right amenities and comfort for our stay. I will be booking again for next year - thanks Archie!
Super, cosy cottage with enclosed garden overlooking fields to the west for some stunning sunsets. Fully equipped kitchen with snug living room and spacious dining area in the conservatory. Private and peaceful; a wonderful place to recharge the batteries!

We loved staying in South Lodge over the weekend - such a pretty cottage, with the most extraordinary views. Everything was beautifully clean and well prepared for us... including the delicious breakfast, which we enjoyed on Sunday morning.
We stayed in this lovely cottage/lodge last weekend. It is a very special place. We ate almost all our meals in the garden which looks out over amazing fields (currently full of golden barley.) We went for wonderful walks and thoroughly enjoyed walking into nearby Finchingfield for the paper and a coffee each morning. The pictures on line do not really do this place justice as it is beautifully done up and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We spent many hours sitting out in the garden just reading and watching the wild life and the sun and the shadows. What a lovely place and it was only two hours from our home in North London - we plan to go back.
