We arrived at the hotel and there was a mistake in our reservation (which was not the hotels fault, I must say). The guy at the counter was not helpful at all, he was not willing to help us fix it and on top of it all, I said that I was going for a couple of drinks while we figured out how to fix it and he rudely said: you can't drink anything because you have not checked in. I think that the least he could have done was to offer us something to drink. The hotel has no beach, we were so bummed that we decided to spend a night at El Pez, and had an incredible stay. On top of it all, the tv only has like 3 channels!! When we checked out at Kore, once again they showed their bad service by telling us that we had to give them the keys or else there would be a charge. We told them that we had left the keys in the room and they said that we had to go pick them up, not offering for them to do it themselves. Please never stay there or you will leave with a mistaken image of Tulum and Mexican service.

Dear Mrs. Silvanna V

Thank you very much for having take your valuable time and offer us a review of your stay with us at Kore Tulum.

We will do our very best to improve what you let us know, sometimes procedures can be a little annoying for our guests, like in this case, this procedure is based on security for your self and others, warranting all the services exclusively for our guest, wearing bracelets and giving them and magnetic room keys back, so there will be not a bad use of them.
We offer transfers everyday to our beach club because we do not have a beach area, all mayor OTAs are aware of this and it is previously placed on the hotel info in their web pages. We will ask them to make it more clear to avoid misinformation.
I am sorry to know that your vacations didn't go as you planned.

Thank you again for your kind comments, we wish you to have a great 2016!

Sincerely

When we arrived t the resort they did not have our reservation - though that was due to the tour operator Sunwing Vacations not booking it) - they were able to accommodate us anyway and were extremely professional, fast and friendly while dealing with the fact that they didn't know we were arriving.
Rooms - each villa has 16 rooms, 8 up and 8 down. 4 of the rooms on the lower level have terraces - I highly recommend these rooms. They seem to give you a bit of a choice when you arrive, we could take a lower with a terrace or second floor with no terrace. Glad we took the lower. They have an extra space in the middle with a couch and table! Room is very spacious, A/C is easy to control and works well, 2 person jacuzzi tub in room takes a lot of time to fll up and is a bit dated but still was a nice treat. Beds were very hard - and i am a person who likes a firm mattress but this was pretty stiff. Others had told us theirs was hard as a rock too.
Food - food is good, it is all A La Carte and there s room service. The room service was all included as well so we ordered to the room a lot. There is a menu in the room, but we ordered stuff that we knew they had on the other menus and there was no issue. room service is available 24/7. The restaurant has 2 levels, lower level fr breakfast and lunch and upper level for dinner. it isn't the most inspiring space but the food is well presented and everything we tried was tasty. They alternate the dinner menus between an italian, mexican and oriental menu, you get 2 each night. Again though, I'm sure you could order whatever you wanted and it would be fine. They did a buffet on the last night we were there which was nice for some variety, I'm not sure if this is common practice or not..
Spa - wonderful, we had a couples hot stone massage and it was great, very attentive staff. Steam room and sauna in the spa as well for guests who book their services.
Facilities - the grounds are beautiful, very well maintained with a few areas that show it's age. The resort is not very big, so if you are the type who enjoys a long walk in the evening there is not the space to do it here really. it is only a $5 cab ride into town though with plenty to see and do there.
Downside - the hotel owners have 2 cancun resorts as well and when they oversold the cancun resort they shipped guests down to this resort for a night or 2. That meant guests that wanted to party and not relax as you would expect from a wellness retreat. We were woken up by drunks a few times in the night, and also it meant there were some folks in the pool smoking cigars and getting trashed. Which is what we hoped to avoid by going to this resort. Staff at the resort did tell us that the majority of the time the resort was very quiet so it could have just been the week we were there unfortunately for us :(
The only other downside would be that it is quite far.. it is 90 plus minute drive from the airport, about 45 min to Play Del Carmen and activities like Xel Ha or XPlor. XCaret even further. Very close to the Tulum ruins and Tulum town (you could ride a bike there if you want). No beach on site at the resort but they have a bus transfer to the beach each day and you could bike to it as well. If you are looking to get out on excursions every day or take a taxi to things like Xel Ha just expect to spend a lot of time in the car/bus. If you want to spend more time at the pool/in the sun and just explore locally it is perfect.
Internet - free in the lobby bar area but extra if you want it in your room. The internet is slow as they are located in a conservation park they cant put up a tower etc. but if this is the place your going, you didn't come here to check your facebook.
Overall - would recommend it for a couple looking for a quiet week away to sleep in a day bed listening to the waves crash on the rocks. If you are quiet people, not into the bars/party scene it is exactly what you are looking for.

Room Tip: main floor rooms with terrace have extra long rooms with sunken living room space with couch and desk etc.

Dear horseygurl:
We thank you very much for taking your time to offer us such complete and detailed review of your recent stay here at Kore Tulum.
We had some guest sent from our brother hotel in Cancun, which was solved, now we will continue with the characteristic ambiance of Kore, Retreat.
We are on our way to improve some services including different dishes, that i am pretty sure they will be of your delight.
We truly hope you keep having a fantastic 2016, hoping to see you soon in the future.

Best Regards

To start, service at the restaurant is painfully slow and the food is mediocre at best, food often arriving cold after a long wait. For example, our tour was picking us up at 7:35am, being the first people at breakfast at 7:00am, we thought we had plenty of time. Despite telling the staff we needed to be done by 7:35, our food was not served until 7:40. Room service was hit or miss, sometimes quick and sometimes slow. Food in the town of Tulum, however, is delicious, so we ate out for nearly all of our meals.

You have to wear a wristband your entire stay, if it is lost you risk a charge of $100. I felt like I was free when they cut it off at checkout.

There is no beach access, however, the pool and bar are awesome and very clean.

Our rooms were very clean each day, and the cleaning staff left us cute little towel animals. The resort is very peaceful, and a nice place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.

Eddie at the swim up bar was awesome, and late nights at the bar with Eduardo were even better. Eduardo made us some delicious drinks and he was very knowledgeable. We had one dinner at the resort that was great, not really for the food, but because of the great server. Overall, hotel staff were pleasant.

I give a rating of a 2 because it is an all inclusive resort, and the food and service should have been better. We will not be returning for another stay.

Dear Mrs. Talina C:

Thank you very much for your comments of your recent stay here at Kore Tulum, I have took precise notes of them and have allready made decisions regarding our services and times, in order to improve them, please receive my most sincere apologies for this.
As for most all inclusive resorts, the use of the bracelet is for your safety and privileges as guest of Kore Tulum, it is a way to identify our beloved guest and of course, losing the bracelet becomes a safety issue, we wouldn't like to have strangers inside the premises trying to do things that are not nice.
We are sad to know that you won't visit us on the future, we would love for you to change your thoughts, and come back to visit beautiful riviera maya again on the future.

Best wishes always.

We truly recommend staying here! This resort is beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, and clean! We love it! The staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. It was about 10-15 minute walk to the beach and about another 15 minute walk to Tulum Ruins from the beach. The room was clean & spacious, which was very important to us. There were only 2 restaurants on the resort which the food was still delicious & fresh! You can order whatever you like on the menu. Everything on the menu was good! It was an memorable weekend! The only complaint we have is the free internet access is very slow!!!

Dear jthuytran:
First of all we thank you for having choose Kore Tulum as your place to be to celebrate your birthday!
As well, we truly thank you for offering us such wonderful and assertive review regarding our services and meals.
We are working on a medium plan therm, to increase the internet power in our resort, this also depends on the local authorities to set up optical fiber in the tulum area, that at this moment does not exist.
Please come to visit us again, maybe you will enjoy the rest of our facilities such as the Temazcal or our Spa.

Best Regards Always

Don't go there for mixing with a lot of people. Go for a large gorgeous resort with few people. Where they will pamper you to their best ability. The rooms are huge and comfortable. The food is very good and not prepared for hundreds like other all inclusive resorts. You will only leave the resort for the cool town, restaurants, and the beach.
