We were thrilled with our week at Villa Izcalli. The pictures are an accurate depiction of the house. (Well, the pool might not be quite as big as it looks in the photos but it was a good pool.) It was spotless when we arrived. All five bedrooms have a private bath. Our three-generation family of nine had lots of room to spread out. You'll find ample seating for a dozen people in the living area, which is on the third floor, and the table sat 10 easily. The kitchen was adequately equipped and we especially enjoyed the nights that Chef Ely, recommended by the property manager, came to prepare dinner for our group. There's a laundry room downstairs that we put to good use. The house is equipped with plenty of beach towels and linens, although the linens were admittedly a little tired. We also had some issues with water pressure in a couple of the bathrooms but the crew seemed to be working to address it. It's a 10-minute walk to Fifth Avenue in Playa and a three minute walk to the beach. Could it be better? Yes, with some picky little recommendations like more comfortable mattress pads, speakers and music on the pool level, and an updated pergola cover next to the pool. But overall, we loved the house and would highly recommend it. Be prepared: you are going to walk up and down a LOT of stairs given the layout (pool on top/fourth floor, living and kitchen area on third, three beds and baths on the second which is also the entry level, and two beds, baths, playroom and laundry room on the bottom. Thanks to Latin Latitude Vacations for their responsiveness, great restaurant recommendations and arranging the chef.
