If you are planning a tour in Riveria Maya I highly recommend a tour with Pixan Travel. Diego is an fantastic tour guide. We did the Coba trip today. Our tour included Coba, a swim in a cenote, a walk through a Mayan village and lunch with another Mayan family. We were able to go places and see things that you just can’t in a big tour group. We had so many special experiences today.
The tours are private but not much if any more expensive than simular tours I’ve taken in this area before. So worth it!

Diego was the best guide we have ever had... hands down! My family and I have travelled extensively and had many guides. Diego was knowledgeable, fun and had a unique approach to touring. He really listened to what we wanted and was ready to adapt plans as we wanted during the day. We experienced history at Chichen Itza, culinary delights in Valladolid and a real thrill jumping 20 feet into a crystal clear cenote that was run by an amazing Mayan family. In one day we got to experience every emotion and left the day exhilarated and feeling like we knew the real Mexico and it's amazing people and their culture. Thank you Diego and Pixan travel.....we'll be back!!

We found out about Pixan Travel through a blog posted by Rick Steves who used Pixan a few months ago. We were so happy that we booked this tour to Tulum and Coba.

Diego picked us up on time in the brand-new Mercedes van. Diego was genuinely interested in hosting travelers by sharing his love for Mayan culture. He was very knowledgeable in sharing his expertise about both Tulum and Coba. He even brought along some guidebooks and his ipad to show more pictures and diagrams to help us understand the history.

While at Coba, the tricycle ride was included in the admission ticket. Diego rode in a bicycle alongside with use in Coba.

What made this tour most unique was the opportunity to visit a private cenote and have lunch with one of the Mayan families. Diego has managed to establish relationships with families who open their houses to visitors, which are different places from where the big tour groups usually go. While at the Cenote, we only saw one other tour group on site. We met a shaman who provided a blessing before going into the cenote. The property had so much natural beauty, including a large lagoon. One of the women was making tortillas on site. They were the best tortillas we've ever had! We got to try them with pipian (pumpkin) seed salsa and also habanero salsa.

After the cenote, we drove to another Mayan property for lunch. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was such a nice setting. The family has an outdoor covered patio in the back where we had lunch. The setting was decorated with beautiful rustic wood furniture and lots of hanging plants around. Any restaurant owner would love to have this type of setting to serve food. We were served a delicious vegetable soup and also some fried tortillas filled with potatoes and cheese. They provided so much food. Everything was really tasty! After lunch we toured around their property. The family took care of of a lot of rescue animals and would also provide education to the children in the neighborhood on how to care for the animals. The family was so gracious in touring us around their expanive property. We also bought some local honey from them before we left. If you are travelling with kids, they would probably love seeing the animals on the property.

We have been on a lot of private tours in different countries, but this was the first time where we had the genuine opportunity to be hosted by a family from that community. Thank you Diego for showing us another side of travel.

Thank you very much for your opinion! we are very happy to hear that you had the chance to see a different side of México and a genuine experience with the mayan community, that is very important for us because they are an essential part of our culture. Hope you are doing great and that you visit us again some other time :)

The Pixan Travel Group was the best! We booked our private 9 person tour with them due to the reviews of Rick Steves of PBS. Diego and Paola are the best at what they do. Paoli is very efficient in answering all questions regarding the tours and costs and Diego is very knowledgeable and a friendly guide. We had a tremendous tour day. Diego was on time with a van filled with snacks and waters for the day. We arrived at Chichen-Itzá early before the crowds. When we left at 12p, the place was packed and lines to get in. Diego timed everything perfectly so we didn’t have to wait or deal with crowds. Lunch was authentic and delicious n the Pueblo of Villadodil. The best part was the Cenote Diego took us after lunch to swim. It was owned by a little family and very private. It was like swimming in our very own cenote. My family ( especially the children) enjoyed jumping and swimming! We HIGHLY recommend Pixan Travel, Diego and Paolo. Gracias a todos for making our tour day memorable, stress free and highly enjoyable.

Diego is an absolute rockstar! Jammed pack days of adventure to ruins, temples, cenotes, caverns and snorkeling with sea turtles! A bicycle trip thru Coba with a hike to the top of a pyramid for a spectacular view. Travelled via private large van and found our way in and out of some cool towns. Great food stops and exotic wildlife complimented our adventures. 8 adults, three kids under 11 and no one was bored. Diego created a itinerary specific to our interests and did not disappoint! We will be back again and connect for more great times!!

Thank you Pixan Travel!! We will see you again soon!!
