We had a great day with Ivan, who is really friendly and knowledgeable. First he picked us up at our hotel, and we saw the farmer's market at Valladolid (where we got some very tasty breakfast), then Chichen Itza (which was marvelous), and finally a cenote that we got to swim in (which is amazing and unlike anything I'd ever done before). For lunch he picked a spot where we were able try pre-hispanic style dishes. One of the highlights for sure was taking a 'break' from the tour to watch the the Mexico vs Germany game in a little cafe in Valladolid - very exciting! Finally, Ivan was able to arrange for us to go scuba diving in a cenote with a really great dive master the next day. 13/10 would recommend this tour!

Ivan took us on a private tour of the Coba ruins, a cenote, and lunch at a local organic farm. He was very knowledgable on Mayan history, and my wife and I were the only ones at the private cenote, which was the highlight of our honeymoon. It truly felt like a private excursion and not a tourist site. We ended the day eating a delicious lunch while learning about the local farming traditions from Enrique. Ivan also took some amazing photos and videos during the day and sent them to us afterwards. I highly recommend Primitive Xpeditions to anyone staying on the Yucatan Peninsula

My wife and I really enjoyed our tour. Ivan did a great job and was very professional. We saw monkeys, a crocodile, and swam in a beautiful cenote. We met a local mayan family and had a nice lunch with them. We also ziplined and canoed across the lake. I really enjoyed going to coba as well.Ivan picked us up from our hotel at 7 and we were back by 5. We really enjoyed meeting Ivan and his wife and would definitely do it again. Thanks !!

We were referred to Ivan of Primitive Xpeditions from our concierge at our hotel in Tulum. We wanted to see some Mayan history/ruins as well as the well known cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula. Ivan met us at our hotel and drove us to the town of Coba where there was a large Mayan civilization. His knowledge of the history of the Mayans was impressive. The highlight was scaling the 30 meter pyramid and taking in the views. Next, he took us to a beautiful cenote that was definitely off the beaten path. The grounds are maintained by two brothers and there is a warm, family feel to the whole experience. Ivan took some amazing underwater photos of us while swimming and jumping (there was one are where you could jump from 25 feet up!) into the cenote. We had no idea we were going to get sent wonderful photos (underwater no doubt!) of the whole experience...a huge perk! Our last stop was a small Mayan community where a wonderful man named Enrique has built an amazing organic farm. We had a fantastic lunch there and he gave us a tour of his property, explaining all the different trees and plants as well as his farming techniques. He is working to keep his family and the Mayan people in his village self sufficient, maintaining their culture and independence. Enrique is very passionate about what he does and he is thankful as the visits help to keep his dream alive. Ivan is heartfelt guy who wants to give back to the community by educating tourists and helping people like Enrique. His conscientious approach was obvious from the start. My girlfriend and tend to shy away from any tour but we were so thankful that we met Ivan and spent the day with him. It was far and away the most wonderful day of our trip and I highly recommend you contact him if you visit the area!
