Sirena in the City was an oasis to come home to after exploring the wonderful city of Merida and the surrounding Yucatan area. It is located only a few blocks away from Santiago Park and a few more from the main plaza.
My husband and I felt like royalty lounging in the provided bath robes on the upper roof with the plunge pool. We enjoyed our daily morning coffee on the balcony listening to the birds in the nearby trees
There are many fantastic restaurants in Merida we took advantage of, but the well-appointed kitchen at Sirena in The City had everything we needed when we prepared our own meals. There is also a washer and dryer available, which we did use to do just a small load of laundry. (also, an iron and ironing board should you require it!)
One thing we are always concerned about is the comfort of the beds in Mexico. Well, Sirena in the City has the most comfortable bed with the most luxurious bedding we have found. (duplicate to their sister bed and breakfast casa on Isla Mujeres) The comfort level all around would be equivalent to any five-star hotel. In fact, I would certainly make it a six star if there were such a thing!
One of the most pleasant surprises was the availability of bicycles which we put to very good use riding on the Paseo Montejo on Sunday morning. It is a must-do attraction in Merida on a Sunday, and to have the bicycles available was just an added bonus! We just loved it!
We had excellent communication with the property manager before, during and after our stay. No hesitation to return, and as long as it is available, we will!
My husband and I stayed at Casa Sirena in the city in Merida last January and loved it! There are 2 apartments in the building, we stayed in the downstairs one which, in addition to being incredibly well appointed and beautifully furnished, has a plunge pool in the back! Perfect for hot summer days in the city! The apartment is very comfy and has everything you need for your city stay, including fun little details such as floating palm tree cup holders, comfy bathrobes, an espresso maker, TV and wifi. It's centrally located, we walked everywhere, and we felt safe and welcomed there. If you plan on visiting Merida, Casa Sirena in the City would be my first recommendation.
Two couples wanted to experience a new view of Mexico, of nice Mexico. The city of Merida, is striving to keep things nice for its citizens and for tourism. Our goal, is to explore Merida by way of walking and biking, in an effort to meet people who live here. So less of the resort, all inclusive, spend all your money here feel, exchanged for, families in the park, street dances in the square, churches competing for attendance at their functions, off the beaten path restaurants, neighborhood bars, feel.
Never far from "home" we'd head back to, Sirena in the City, for rest for relaxation, laying in the sun, dipping in the pools, for a while. Then we'd hit the streets again. There is an occasional walk for groceries, but everything needed for food preparation and serving is on site. There are some wonderful restraunts, downtown, still walking distance.
We did decide hire a driver to visit the coast, take a boat ride among the thousand of Flamingos see alligators in the wild. There is no limit to taking side trips, but, getting back to and sticking with the plan was what we did for the rest of the trip.
Walking into the neighborhood bar as gringos the first night, making acquaintances, and returning each night thereafter for a nightcap, treated as friends; also, being led around by helpful people, and, watching kids play in front of us, even approach us, these are the goal accomplished. Serina in the City, was the perfect place for our adventure.
