We enjoyed dining in this charming open courtyard restaurant. Food was good and service was OK. La Biznaga is especially well-know for its mescal magaritas. We also liked the samll shop adjacent to restaurant selling a good selection of the colorful clay animals typical of the region.

We should have kept the 1st memory alone and lasting. Tough beef, uneatable. Menu is not consistent. We had been there 2 years ago and enjoyed it. Barred from our list now.

Our dinner at Biznaga was a nice exploration of their take on Oaxacan cuisine. The restaurant is in an patio that has a roof that rolls back when the evening cools, making our view of the half moon a lovely backdrop for the meal. It seems that the young man serving us may have been new on the job, but the manager made sure we had what we wanted. We had two different mole dishes at our table, plus several good vegetarian dishes. Their beer list is impressive. One of the few good places in Oaxaca that will take reservations if you stop by to make them personally, but not on phone.

The menu has English as well as Spanish. This restaurant is comfortably casual, with a courtyard setting and an interesting menu that includes regional dishes and innovative preparation of entrees. Bar with beer, mescal, and pulque. There is no expectation that people should hurry, and many linger to chat. We ate there four times (including one breakfast) and never found it crowded and never had to wait for a table.

It's too bad that the service here is so indifferent, which is being kind, with overtones of negativity. How these waiters are chosen (starting with a happy person goes a long way) or if there's training is mystifying. If you don't experience that, then you'll probably enjoy yourself here.
