“If you walk the Malecon, walk its entire length”

Puerto Vallarta's El Malecon Boardwalk

While in Puerto Vallarta, to get the PV experience, you must walk the entire length of the Malicon. There are tons of shops, restaurants and cantinas all along its length. In the downtown area there are many shops, as you cross the Rio Quale (river) which is the southern end of the Malicon, you get into the condo area where the Malicon parallels Banderas Bay. Here, there are great little restaurants, cantinas, beach access, and vendors galore. This is the Old Town or Romantic area of PV where most of the action is. Also, the "people watching" along this area of the Malicon is fantastic.

it's a nice walk but a long one, all the stores sell the same things, souvenirs and tequila. Not much else to see or do.
the boy on the seahorse is at the very south end. a lot smaller than I imagined
there is a nice Puerto Vallarta sign that everyone takes a picture in front of.
restaurants are the only diverse thing
I went and ate at Pipi's

We spent a really enjoyable morning walking and looking at all the sculptures!! Watched a man building one with stones on the beach. I can't tell you how many pictures we took. This was one of my favorite activities of all times..and free. All the iron statues are fun and unusual. Its not an "artsy" adventure, it's fun and totally unusual. Plenty of places to eat and just sit and people watch..I'd go back in a heart beat..Don't forget your camera!

The views of ocean are great from the boardwalk. Also, good places to eat if you are strolling and want to grab a bite.

This is a beautiful little town, short bus ride from Hotel Pelicanos. 7.5 pesos. We went twice. There are restaurants on the beach overlooking the promenade, it is wide so plenty of room. There is shopping. We walked two streets back when we were ready to eat for street tacos. The people were so friendly.
