There are some pros and cons at this resort. Hotel staff was great. All inclusive package included. Facilities and grounds were kept well maintained. There is an all adults pool which was nice. The spa is small but the masseuse was great! A big shout out to Brenda who did a great job on a deep tissue and facial massage!! The food selection at the buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner was good. Now for some of the not so good items. There are only 3 bars at the resort. 1 of them does not open until 5 pm. The other two are staffed with 1 bar tender each. So you can imagine the huge line to get a two drink minimum per person. On top of that the are no name brand liquors at the bar and only 1 type of beer which was Modelo Especial, or at least that's what they told me. The liquors they did have are some sort of imitation brands; the brand name was LIVE by Live Spirits which I cannot find anywhere on the internet (see picture I will upload). So for example if you asked for a tequila drink they would add LIVE AGAVE; which was agave flavored liquor. LIVE vodka, LIVE rum, LIVE gin.. you get the idea. You are not allowed to eat at the main pool or adult pool UNLESS you bought food from their seafood restaurant which was not part of the all inclusive. The rooms we got was ok; TV worked fine, AC worked fine, our safe did not have a key lock or digital lock at all (see pic). Although check in time is at 3pm; you can still arrive early and get your all inclusive band as long as it is after 12noon. They have nightly entertainment in the main lobby; which has limited seating as they have to bring out tables and chairs. They do have the 'sharks' at the entrance lobby trying to get you to buy their membership which could get annoying. HINT: Do not stay on the rooms west side of the lobby as there is a club a few doors down and you can hear the music thumping loud all night into the morning. I do have to say the workers are friendly and do a great job.

Room tip: Do not stay on rooms West of the lobby

I am currently here for my 50th solo birthday. I was a little concerned with some of the US reviews when I booked but let me tell you my honest review. I am Canadian and I am currently the only English/French speaking person here at the resort. I love it! I am from Alberta and it disgusts me when I read reviews that are negative around the lack of English spoken here. When you book a trip to Mexico, do you not realize that you are choosing to vacation in a foreign country?! Spanish is their main and only language here in PV. Very few people speak English here. That's OK. Since you are choosing to come to this beautiful location, why not try and learn THEIR language?! The reviews that complain about the lack of English spoken are ignorant and sound uneducated. Learn some basic phrases and get out your Google translate app.

Moving on. This resort is lovely. The workers are incredible! As a solo traveler, they went out of their way to help me out, teach me some new phrases and helped me to feel welcome. Special thanks to Guadalupe the adult side server. He kept the drinks coming even if I forgot to tip. Please tip these workers as they are skilled and work hard. David the bartender for being so kind and helping me with what was going on around me during the evening shows. And finally Hugo the entertainment director who's English is amazing and for conversing with me about the shows, politics, the customs here and general conversations.

The food is good, not amazing but it is 40 degrees here in July so salads are very good here. There's always a minimum if 2 proteins at each meal. You will not go hungry unless you are incredibly picky. The adult only pool is just that. They enforce the rules of no minors in the area and I appreciated that. The beach is good. The water is calmer in the morning than the afternoon. My room is exactly what I paid for. King sized bed, top floor, ocean view and a balcony. Gorgeous view. The room is very clean. No extras but very clean. That's important. The bathroom is a little dark, only 2 small lights but still very clean.
I have only 1 complaint. The safe is a big ol' chunky key. Yes, a key. This is ridiculous. The hotel needs to get with the times and install digital safes. It's silly to have to carry around a key everywhere you go. Especially in this era.

I hope this helps with your decision about whether or not to stay at this resort. I leave in 2 days and I will miss it immensely.

Room tip: Learn a little Spanish and realize you have chosen to be in a country that speaks Spanish predominantly. Relax and have fun!

If we can change the rating of this hotel please do so to a 4 or more stars. We were there almost expecting the worst and it was the best stay ever, way better than a 4 stars in punta cana, The service even if we arrived at 3 am was amazing. we got a room on the 4th floor saying it was a view of the run of the hotel ( which is a partial sea view) the room simply amazing it is old yes but clean and comfy. The cleaning crew were amazing in cleaning and always working. The food was amazing, there was always choices for the picky one ( rice, pasta, veggies) me and my boyfriend told ourslef if the food was not great we would visit the restaurant outside and we ate at the hotel everyday. If you have the chance to be served by Miguel or Javier they are amazing. Coffe and amazing breakfast. For sure they do speak a bit english but if you can learn a bit of spanish before going it will go a long way. we got fried fish. Birria tacos, paella, shrimp as large as a man hands. The location is close to everything 40 min walk of the malecon, there is some mall close by.
the Beach was great a lot of complaint about the fact that there was not enough chairs or that the security will remove your stuff well it is not true the hotel was full and we were always with a chair, and the security only follow the rules that are written that you can

Room tip: Book it , love it , close to everything, bus is 10 pesos mexican, speak a bit of spanish is usefull

First off, I would like to tell you this was my "favorite" resort in Puerto Vallarta. I had been visiting Las Palmas yearly (or more) for 15 years. My previous visit was in 2019. Could not get a package to Las Palmas for the past 5 years due to Air Transat no longer flying from the west. I was very excited when I found out Westjet had packages starting this year.
My most recent visit was April 2024, I will NEVER go back. Following are incidents my daughter, sister and myself experienced during our trip. We are all not young, 60's, 50's and 40.

* Checked in and got 2 room keys for 3 people. When I asked for another I was told they didn't have enough to give us one more.
* The room they assigned us was very musty and sister had to use her inhaler. (switched rooms the next day)
* No blankets on beds, just sheets.
* The bathroom had no hand towels, washcloths or bathmat.
* The shower had hooks for a shower curtain but no shower curtain.
* Deadbolt on door didn't work.
* Couldn't open or close one side of curtain on sliding door to balcony. No privacy.
* Went to the beach in the morning and only 2 lounges available next to each other. I pulled an empty lounge next to them and was approached by security (woman spoke only Spanish), she motioned to me "no" and pointed to me to put it back.
* No food or drinks allowed on the beach.
* No food or drinks in the pool which I understand, Mexicans were doing it without a word being said by security.
* Main restaurant is under construction so meals are served in the common area. Was not advised of construction when booking vacation.
* Resort staff approached us in the buffet line and tried to upsell the resort.
* Limited seating anywhere on the resort whether it be for meals or lounging.
* There was no formal entrance to the eating area so we just sat at a table and got reprimanded by restaurant manager for doing so. There were no signs to wait to be seated.
* Sister had burn on her shoulders to she slipped on a short t-shirt and sat in the wading area of the pool to cool off. Security woman promptly came over and motioned her to get out of the pool. We tried to explain why but she couldn't understand us. Sister stayed in pool (8 inches deep). Security guard ran and got the manager. Once we explained, he allowed it.
* Our room was on the 4th floor and we set our wet bathing suits on the balcony railing overnight to dry. At 7am the same female security was yelling up at our room to take them down. When we didn't respond, she had front desk call our room 3 times.
* We left our room, went to the pool, put our towels on some lounges
by the pool (first time we did this due to lounges all being gone by the time we finished eating) and went for breakfast. When we arrived back to the lounges (30 min later) our towels were gone and other people were sitting there. Security woman was muttering something in Spanish about it. We went to the front desk to complain and they said she just brought the three towels to them. It seemed that security woman had it in for us. We spoke with the manager and he agreed that it seemed there was a double standard in place and he would chat with her. She left us alone for the last 3 days of our trip.
* We were not the only ones being harassed by this security woman, it seems she had a thing for white people for some reason. So sad...
