This is THE spot to be seated around Machado Square in the evening. Everyone in our family of 5 found something good to eat and we enjoyed the margaritas!

We go to Pedro y Lola's a lot, every week, in fact. The first waiter we met, Alex, has become a good friend in the last three years. He is bilingual, very funny, friendly and informative when you need answers. Last weekend, we had the octopus appetizer. It was so good we ordered another. It's a great place to people watch and enjoy the occasional 'street performance'. We inevitably run into friends and sometime make new ones. It's the 'place to be' on the Plaza Machado!

Wonderful place on the square for dinner. Waiter was very helpful in selecting from the menu. We all stayed with beer during dinner. The flank steak and shrimp were out choices from the menu, my shrimp was cooked to perfection. I think the pork shank would be a better choice than the flank steak. The group did not order an appetizer but several tables around did and it look very good. We went more to see the sites on the square than for dinner but we would return again. The service was very good. They were filming a soap opera that night on the square.

I was walking around the Machado looking for a good drinking spot. P&L has a very inviting bar. I sat at an outside table (lovely Saturday night) and enjoyed cocktails and had a look at the menu. Lots of appealing dishes, but I wanted something not so heavy. The pork shank had caught my eye. I ordered two starters: Greek salad and the pork shank taco. The waiter said it was one taco. The Greek salad was nice with delicious bread. The taco came out "make yourself" with a pot loaded with chunks of tender, delicious pork shank, a plate of red onion and chopped cilantro, and a stack of corn tortillas. It looked like a whole shank! Anyway I made about four tacos before I got too stuffed to eat anymore. The waiters were very friendly and efficient and all seemed to speak English as well as Spanish.

Similar menu to most other places on the plaza. The food was acceptable and the service was OK but somehow we ended up with an extra appetizer and their house wine prices are way higher than most other places in the plaza. We paid more here for an average meal than at the number 1 restaurant in the historic district, which was spectacular by comparison and only a couple of blocks away.
