We arrived at Villa Blanca on Jan 7, 2020 for a 4 wk stay. we had requested by email months in advance for a room with pool view, king bed and refridgerator, and possibly on the ground floor as my husband has a bad hip. we received a street view room # 208 two double beds, 2nd floor and no refidgerator.... we were told a new room would be available in 2 days. we then were moved to room 222 again it had 2 double beds, much smaller than room 208 and a refridgerator was brought to the room. we did have pool view with this room. our third room was supposed to be pool view, it had a view of the wall of the next building and if the wind was blowing right we could see a small portion of the pool. This was room 303 yes that's right third floor, no elevator and my husband has a bad hip, the wifi in room 303 is non existent . All of this would have been a minor upset except for the front desk clerk Chaela ( I could be spelling her name wrong and I apologize if I am. ) This young lady from our very arrival was rude, unprofessional, and lied to us on a couple occaisions.
Room 303 as I said did not have a desirable view, it was large, and it had a king bed. The bed was in a loft that had very creaky boards as the floor. No dresser to put clothing away but did have a wardrobe to hang shirts trousers and dresses the rest stayed in my suitcase. Hot water was plentiful for showers and the A/C did work good. the room was dated and the deck rail was not cleaned of bird poop the entire 4 weeks that we were there ( room for improvement)
Please note that if you have mobility issues and can not get a room on the ground floor this hotel may be a challenge as there is no elevator . most of the hotels rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor.
Restaurant:
Our package had breakfast included and to be honest it was very good, The wait staff made us feel very welcome Javier, josue , Jorje , Johnathan, victor and Liz are all amazing staff members and are real asset to Villa Blanca , as well as the head chef Fran. Thank you for the great food and wonderful service. We enjoyed the catch of the day on Wednesdays and the BBQ on Mondays and Fridays. My only complaint or observation about the restaurant was that the floors were not washed the entire time we were there. (they did wash the area where the breakfast omelet station was set up but no where else.) there was a couple spots of bird poop on the floor that remained for the 4 weeks we were there. this is unsanitary.
Pool and area:
To start I would like to say there is plenty of umbrellas, this however I'm convinced is not for sunshade but to protect the guests from the falling iguanas or iquana poop. I was quite irritated with a few guests that would throw shoes or hats at the iguanas ( if you are afraid of them this may not be the hotel for you) There is a hawk handler on sight from 8 am to 10 am almost daily to keep the grackles (black birds ) away however as soon as he leaves the birds come back.
There are tables and loungers set up for your convenience, the loungers do have a lot of bird poop stains, use your towels. The pool levels were tested daily and chemicals added as needed, however the pool deck was not washed the entire time of our stay. food , iguana poop, bird poop etc. this needs to be addressed . Finally I will add that there is very little air movement through the pool area making it very hot and extremely humid if you have issues with heat this may be a problem for you.
There is a shuttle twice a day to take you to Playa santa cruz La Playa restaurant, they do have loungers however you must purchase from the restaurant to use them so its not really Villa Blanca beach club. I would suggest going to Quinta Bella beach club instead.
In closing I would suggest this resort for short stays.
