We stayed at The Camino Real Zaashila the first week in February and absolutely loved it. We did our due diligence and researched all the hotels in the area and felt this hotel best suited the experience we hoped for. First of all if you are looking for an action packed, loud music, all day entertainment filled boisterous holiday with big American style buffets you better stop reading now. If you are looking for a very romantic, peaceful, tranquil place with other quiet guests (mostly adults) and enjoy the sound of tropical birds and ocean waves crashing plus fine sea side dining with lots of Oaxaca dishes and seafood options then this might be heaven for you and keep reading. This is a beautiful Mediterranean style beachfront property designed by renowned architect Javier Sordo Madaleno and has only 151 rooms so everything is absolutely gorgeous and super easy to get around. We loved the elevation of the property and the views from the hotel. Things we loved about this place :

- bright, spacious, clean rooms with updated bedding
-strong air conditioning had no trouble keeping up in the heat
- double vanities in washroom and lots of plush white towels and toiletries
-good functioning safe and fridge withdrinks and snacks
-room service
- no bracelets and unlimited beach towels at towel hut by pool where you can also book excursions
- plenty of lounge chairs and shade umbrellas
-ocean/main pool view open air breakfast buffet had lots of choices with plenty of fresh food and made to order egg station
-ocean/infinity pool open air alacarte lunch with plenty of seafood options (coconut shrimp and guacamole to die for)
- 2 choices for alacarte dinner or small buffet near main pool.
- good quality food in alacarte restaurants and lots of authentic Mexican Oaxacan style cooking in fact we’d say this was some of the best food we’ve had in our travels to all inclusive resorts
-quiet crowd and mostly older 40 + Canadian crowd
- clean, warm freeform main pool extending the length of the buildings so you can swim long curved lengths
-oceanfront infinity square pool with extra large sundeck doubles as a romantic candlelit outdoor dining deck alternate evenings
-very lush tropical gardens with flowers and every pathway was exquisite
-extremely romantic setting
-tropical birds singing throughout and we even saw parrots
-helpful staff and captains supervising dining areas with good English
-top shelf liquor, large beer selection and tasty wine for an all inclusive
-medium size clean beach good for short walks and roped off swimming areas but watch for big waves so swim carefully and always swim with a buddy
-lovely rock/cliff formations at either ends of the beach
-not a crowed beach and lots of space if you want privacy so just ask the beach guy Julian to set you up where you want
-staff appreciative of peso tips and we brought lots of 20s, 50s, 100s notes we ordered from our bank in Canada
-hot all the time (dry heat) and no rain so bring cool clothing and lots of sunscreen
-no bug bites but we did spray the odd time some natural bug repellant in the evening and used baby oil on our legs during the day
-generally the whole property was kept clean I feel due to a combination of respectful guests who pick up after themselves and staff who regularly attend to areas
-adequate gym but a bit of a hike up the hill to top of resort
-staff available to assist with mobility issues but keep in mind the resort is built on a hill but guests seemed to manage fine and we saw guests helping each other which was so nice to see

Only tiny negative I’d say was the signing of the bills but it really wasn’t a big problem for us since we were never in a hurry and it is good to see how much things would normally cost and you appreciate what you paid all inclusive and the delicious food you enjoyed.
The wifi I’ve been told will be throughout the resort by next year but it also wasn’t a problem since we figured out soon the spots where the routers were and had no problems connecting with home.

I’m torn about recommending this hotel since I’d really like to keep it a secret hidden gem but I must give this hotel and staff credit to their hard work and give them a solid 5 bubble rating.
We’ve already recommended this resort to family and friends and they are staying there next week. I’m so jealous they get to go.
