We’ve been meaning to eat here for ages and when we had friends to stay decided this was the time. It’s on the Main Street in East Preston, almost next to the recreation ground. There is a lively bar downstairs with live music whilst the dining area is upstairs. The room is almost like being in one’s home with a bookcase full of books etc. and other homely touches. There are only a few tables. The menu is limited, food was ok but we did find the selections a bit random. Drinks were good and staff really friendly

Had lovely tapas meal on Saturday upstairs lovely ambience and great service we had a ball and then danced to band in pub afterwards
My only issue was that king prawn dish had tiny prawns only, no king prawns in sight and buffalo mozzarella was very bland so could have sourced a better product but whole night was very fun

Thank myfriendsam

Thank you for your review. Very pleased you had a great evening with us both upstairs and downstairs at the Clockhouse. The packaging on the prawns is labelled king prawns. They are the same ones I have always used, but I have noticed they are slightly smaller than previously. Being a natural product, they’re variable in size. You are still receiving a bowl full, and one of our best sellin dishes. As for the BUFFALO mozzarella - this is an Italian cheese which in imported in by The Cheeseman (our main cheese supplier, who supplies restaurants & deli’s All over sussex) It is supposed to be a delicate flavour, enhanced with other delicate flavours like fresh basil, & locally produced tomatoes as served here. We pride ourselves in our quality products. We look forward to you visiting again soon.

We had seen a number of references to this place and decided to check it out with some of my London relatives. It is basically a restaurant on the first floor of what appears to be a lively pub - some of the noise coming up through the floor. Access however is up some quite steep stairs which might be a problem for the less mobile. The chairs are the high stool type which, although well padded, can be uncomfortable to sit on for too long. My fellow diners were somewhat surprised by the brevity of the menu for a Tapas bar. Although the usual olives and other items were there, there was little real choice in the choice of dishes - particularly meat and fish dishes. What we had was fine but it seemed more like a snack bar than a fully fledged Tapas Restaurant.

Thank you for your review. A bit of a surprise to receive 3 stars..... A first for us! I think you must have missed a page of our menu! Oh dear what a shame, you and your London friends really did miss our! As you can see from the majority of other reviews, most give us a 5 star review......that’s why we’re No.1 in East Preston!

Visited last night, food very nice, Pinot Grigio was a bit rough but the white Rioja was great, some of the tapas dishes a little overpriced but generally all good. Attentive but not in your face service. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry the Pinot Grigio wasn’t to your taste, our wine sommelier tasted it (it was fine) you refused a replacement, but later enjoyed the White Rioja. We carefully monitor our prices which are competitively priced accordingly - sorry you felt we were overpriced - our food is all Home cooked on the premises and nothing ‘readymade’ is bought in. We look forward to welcoming you back.
