This was my first time in Meghalaya and I wanted to make it as memorable as I can. So on the very first da we stayed in an island near umiam lake and second we headed towards the Mawphlong and we had already contacted Mr.winning star ( 8368487316) who is a guide there and is an amazing human. So we started our trek around 10ish and winning was explaining the history behind it and the way he tells about these stories make you feel like you are there at that time.
It was an amazing hike of 16 kms where in you will experience Child water of river where in you can dive for a while, you have big open fields from where you can see only one thing which are mighty hills and no humans. This trail has some very narrow paths as well which makes it thrilling. The moment you will pass the river and complete a hike of 4 kms you will reach a village which is a maggi point and you can rest there for a while. From there you start walking towards some oddly shaped but beautiful hills and side by side you have some beautiful and mesmerizing water bodies. This was just an amazing and wonderful experience and our guide Mr. Winning made it an unforgettable experience.

One can opt for half or a full trek. We did the full trek which is approx. 16 kilometres and involves gently steep ascents and descents and can easily take 4.5-5 hours. It's a must do if you are in Meghalaya. However, if you have selected this trek for adventure, I think you will be disappointed but at the same time, if you are doing it to enjoy the scenic beauty of Meghalaya, you must do it.

We met our guide Winning Star Lyngdoh (Win) outside the entry point at Sacred Groves at 8.30 am. Our car dropped us there and we agreed to meet our driver outside the exit point 30Km by road. The trail is 16 Km long. It is a fairly easy trail, but we had done double decker root bridge the previous day and had slowed down with some body aches after the root bridge trek. We had in Win an amazing guide, quite versatile in conversation, interesting, well educated and with very good English speaking skills. He was quite encouraging, supportive and patient.
