Description: We're a country pub and all of our menus showcase the best of Britain with plenty of fresh, local produce and dishes that tip their hats to the seasons. Whether you want to indulge in rich local game, fresh-off-the-boat crab or just kick off your wellies and relax with a pint and a scotch egg, here you'll get a true taste of the great British countryside. It's not just our food that we're proud of here, we've also spent time picking the best local ales and award-winning British spirits and wines for behind our bar, alongside some old favourites. From Sipsmith artisan gin to Nyetimber bubbles, make sure to take some time to sample our drinks menu too. We even stock Snuffle dog beer for any canine companions. We are proud to have received 2 Rosettes and 4 Stars for our accommodation by the AA. We are also part of 'Pub group of the year 2016' by the Good Pub Guide.

I met my daughter there today for lunch as a midway venue between our homes. The setting is gorgeous and the pub is very attractive.
The food , however, is over engineered - cold and hot on the same plate and a curious mixture of tastes put together. It was like master chef gone wrong.

Thank Linda B

Fantastic selection on the menu, service was good and it has a lovely atmosphere. It is a little pricey but worth it.... during the week they have a lunch 2courses for $20 which is great value and you had a selection of choices, we had the shellfish bisque with scallops and the duck ragu, with polenta, absolutely delicious!

We visited for a Sunday lunch and were warmly greeted and seated by the front of house staff with the promise that someone would be with us shortly. It took a while before anyone came, but we weren't in a rush. We ordered our food and drinks and again after a little wait bread arrived at the table. When inquiring about what type of bread it was our server's reply was 'just brown bread and some Italian bread'. Unfortunately, the focaccia bread was a little stale, but the other farmhouse style bread with sun-dried tomatoes was flavoursome.

The starters were beautifully presented, especially the venison tartar. Bold flavours and a good amount of food for a starter. However, a little bit more waiting was required for the mains. When the mains arrive they again looked beautiful and tasted fantastic. Desert is my favourite course and I was spoilt for choice on the menu. I finally chose the honey cake as this is not something you see often on the menu. Couldn't fault it and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. When requesting the bill we had to wait for such a long time that we decided to get up and pay at the till.

Final thoughts; although I am not in a hurry to return, I would return based on the quality of the food. If the service could match that level then you will have a winner! Nevertheless, thank you for an enjoyable lunch.

I would highly recommend the Crab and Boar for a special occasion. The staff are just so welcoming and male you feel relaxed from the minute you arrive. The restaurant and menu lived up to our expectations for sure.

Look forward to re-visiting in the summer :)
