We go to Italy each year and this was our favorite house so far. There is a lot of space indoors, gorgeous outdoor areas, and covered front and back porches for spending time outside even if it starts to rain. The balconies surround the upper floors, which provide even more opportunity to spend time outside. There were bikes at the house so you can ride into connecting towns very easily.
The kitchen doors open onto an outdoor area on the back so people can sit around the table and visit as the evening meal is being prepared. Being able to cook evening meals is a wonderful option and part of the experience for me. I like going to the store each day to see what fresh food is available for preparing meals. As with many homes in Italy, you must be gentle with the electric. Don't run the washing machine and the dishwasher at the same time or the breaker will trip. This is workable if you plan the dishwasher to run overnight and the washing machine to run after everyone gets finished bathing.
The house is located in Tonfano, which is a great low-key area (at least during our stay), where you feel comfortable walking to the sea or going into the town at night for gelato or a drink. I found my favorite bar the first day we were there. The bar Capriccio is on via Versillia. The owner Sergio, became our best source of information during our stay, giving reference to places to eat, days of the week for markets, etc., and he makes the best martini smashes and mojitos of which we consumed our share. Always a great stop at the end of a busy travel day.
Finally, I cannot say enough good things about the process for booking and staying in this home. Candida, the contact person for the house, is very quick to answer questions and offer help. Her sister and mother waited for us at the house until our arrival and showed us the location of everything that we might need. This is a great help after long travels. They left food, wine, and fruits for us to enjoy during our stay. The signora even brought homemade jams in the middle of the week with clean towels. This is the greatest example of why I love Italy. People who are willing and happy to share their home and know how to provide hospitality and a taste of their local culture.
We ate good food, drank good wine, laughed a lot, enjoyed the sea and visiting local areas and markets and this was the perfect location for all of it.
