“And relax......”

Hollyview Cottage was the perfect cottage for a relaxing mid-term break. Our party of 4 adults, 2 children and 1 well behaved dog have enjoyed a peaceful few days in this well appointed house.

The cottage is modern but warm and homely feeling and although located by the road is totally tranquil. The bedrooms are great sizes and the beds are super comfy! Both bathrooms are lovely although the light in the downstairs shower room could do with being replaced. The shower itself was brilliant - there is nothing worse than going for a shower and being hit with a trickle of water but not the case at Hollyview! The kitchen is absolutely stunning and well equipped however the fridge is small for a party of 6. The kids loved the garden - one because of the trampoline and the other because there was tonnes of room to play football.

There was a bottle of wine and box of chocolates from the owner in the kitchen when we arrived which was a lovely touch.

Hollyview is a brilliant location for exploring the East Coast. Kids loved the beaches at Coldingham and Eyemouth (and the arcade Highway 66). We took a trip to Alnwick which we would highly recommend and also to the totally beautiful Holy Island.

All in all a fabulous time had by all.

fron start of booking to the point of leaving Hollyview, everything went exceptionally well, Mairi is very helpful and welcoming and gives you a very relaxed feeling about booking her Excellent hoilday home.
Hollyview itself is amazing, very well presented, with every possible amenity you could need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Decorated and furnished to a very high standard, to not be impressed by this place would be a travesty.
Location is perfect, just a couple of miles outside of Coldingham, with easy access to local pubs, shops and beach (which is amazing). A very good base to explore from, we visited Berick, Edinburgh and Eyemouth on our stay, all within easy driving distance.
We were a group of 4 adults and 3 children under (5, 8,& 9) and Hollyview suited us all, spacious enough for the kids to play and quiet enough for the adults to relax
We could not recommend highly enough and will be coming back soon
Thank you for letting us enjoy your holiday home and hospitality Mairi, see you again soon

This cottage was really lovely, accommodating for all my needs of an extended canine family, beautifully decorated/furnished everything I needed, lovely and toasty warm even when snowing outside. I could move in tomorrow :)
Thank you Mairi for the wine and chocolates :)

The cottage

Hollyview - there are two properties next to one another. Both decorated in a contemporary style. Very clean and equipped with everything you need. There is a small courtyard at the back. And in front of the cottage is a grassed area. There is another grassed area with small playground to the side. Loved the cottage and would recommend it. Would have loved a tumble dryer for the winter months as it rained for four days. Also a large fridge freezer would be perfect. There were only two of us and we could just about get our food in. We couldn't eat out much as had the dogs with us so this may not matter to some people but not sure if a party of six would fit all their food in. There is a good selection of DVDs, books and board games. Master bedroom is lovely and large. Other two bedrooms are really good size. Heating very good in winter months. Adequate room for parking.

Hawthorne is all on one level. Has patio doors from the living room into the garden which is a decent size. Garden is fenced off with gate. Adequate room for parking.

Owners live next door and Mairi was very helpful and friendly.

The area.
Coldingham village is quaint and only two miles down the road as well as the vijay and some cliff top walks with amazing views. If you have a dog that has a tendency to chase birds or dive I to water you would need to be very careful as some of the cliff top walks are not fenced off. The bay is lovely. You can walk up the steps and along the Creel path to St Abbs harbour and there is a little coffee shop there.

From the cottage going in the opposite direction from Coldingham within a 5 min drive follow directions to Pease Bay caravan park. Drive over the ford at the bottom of the steep bank and there is a gate taking you to a woodland walk in Pease Dene. Then you can walk through the caravan park onto Pease Bay. Drive past the pease bay entrance and there are two walks before you reach the veg factory. One is Siccar point. A fenced off cliff top walk safe for dogs with amazing views. Warning. If you take the footpath to Siccar point don't let kids run ahead and keep dogs on a lead as you end up on the edge of a cliff! Nothing worth seeing from what I could dare to see.

John Muir Country Park in Dunbar is 20 mins drive and well worth seeing. Lovely views and great for dogs. Just drive through the Main Street of Dunbar keep going and you should end up at the sea front which is where the country park is.

There is a Spar shop in Coldingham village and the nearest supermarket is Morrisons I think in. Burnfield. There are a couple of pubs and the New Inn in the village lets dogs in the sports bar and opened it for us in November as there was no one using it. They were really helpful and friendly.

All in all we had a great stay at Hollyview and the area is beautiful

The cottage was ideal. Immaculate, contemporary, cosy and well-equipped. There was a small garden which we did not get around to using and in spite of the road nearby, no noise or visual pollution. A very easy and comfortable cottage. Would recommend highly. Beautifully furnished.
