The brochure made this place look and sound alot cooler than it was. All these reviews calling it Excellent are insane. My family and I were highly disappointed. It seemed quite run down and dumpy compared to its hype of being excellent and fun. Save your money and go to a beach that doesnt charge you.

We had a very large group of 35 or so. We took taxi vans at port for $14 a person. Our taxi driver( jake from state farm) was friendly and funny. Prices the same as other places. It was choppy so no paddle boards or kayaks. They did throw out inter tubes. Few of us did banana boat ride and loved it (not for little ones if water rough). Got to see dolphins pretty close. Couple split cost of jet ski and really enjoyed it. Seaweed on beach but not a big deal. Few locals selling stuff but not pushy. Few tried restaurant and liked it. Overall we had a really good time.

This was our 3rd trip to Pirate's Cove...formerly Junkanoo Beach Club Freeport at Taino Beach.

Still a $14 round trip ride (each) from the cruise ships and a $3 entrance fee, two chaise lounges and an umbrella now cost $15. Still, in all, it is a bargain when compared to the cruise ship excursions.

The beach had a bit more seaweed than previously, but otherwise I think that Pirate's Cove is a bit better that its predecessor. The staff was friendly, the wifi worked, and the drinks were reasonably priced.

For a very enjoyable beach day, this is really hard to beat. We'll be going back again!

I have visited this place three times now and enjoyed it, but personally preferred going earlier in the day when it was quiet and the beach was clean.

If you're on a cruise and want somewhere to stop off to swim and sunbathe this is ideal and you can keep out of the sun by hiring chairs and umbrellas, which are $15 but strangely $20 if you just want a chair and an umbrella for one - just take both of the chairs for $15. If your intention is to let loose and have a few drinks then it's $30 for unlimited (specific) drinks.

The beach gets incredibly crowded as you would expect when the cruise ships come in - there seems to be plenty of beach chairs but the only massive negative would be the small amount of water sectioned off for swimmers and the jet skis are too close to where the swimmers are. A guy (staff) who rode the jet-skis back in at the close of the day was going pretty fast and I wouldn't have liked my toddler to be on the sand at that point.

Haven't tried the food yet but the bar gets packed and there is a good vibe in there.

You can get your hair braided by the locals and buy locally made jewellery to take back with you. There is also a massage therapist if you fancy a massage.

If you want to go to relax head there earlier in the day before the crowds arrive

Oh and if you are going for the zip line it is non-existent

When cruising, we refuse to pay the $$$ for costly shore excursions. Carnival actually had a reasonable priced "taxi to Taino Beach for $20 a person) last year---but when I inquired about it this year no one seemed to know what I was talking about lol. We private taxied to Pirates Cove for I do believe $7 a person with a $3 admission fee. The admission allowed you use of their amenities, paddleboards, restrooms and changing facilities, and WIFI. Beach is a little rocky but all in all a great day. You can get two beach chaises and an umbrella for $15 total---which is a steal!

Staff was very pleasant and taxis left the Cove every 1/2 hour as promised with no wait when you were ready to go back to ship.

Cost of the "Freeport Beach Day" thru carnival was over $100 per person which included a tour of a perfume factory, marketplace shopping, and 1 1/2 hours of beach time. Us? Not interested in tours, etc. Ride to beach, ride back from beach, two chairs & umbrella, and 5 hours at beach $35 plus $6 for four beers :)

Highly recommend! Did not see a zipline though!
