Staying at a hotel well off the beaten path, I ventured down the beach about 40min and happened upon this spa. I had no appointment but the cordial receptionist found an appointment slot for me.
The surroundings were quite peaceful, clean, and loved though they did look a little 'tired' - dinged furniture legs, leaky water decanter, slightly stained seat cushions, etc.
Nonetheless, it was a welcome getaway.
My massage therapist was fantastic. One of the best 80 min relaxation massages I have ever had and well worth the 40 min walk and 60 min wait. The cost was reasonable for a spa, $120.
My massage itself was wonderful. The staff was wonderful. But the overall spa is in desperate need of a refurb. The steam room was scary it was so bad. This place has such great potential. I really hope they do the necessary repairs and refurbishments needed to keep this place in good condition. Overall I would recommend, just know what your walking in to.
The fitness center at the Grand Lucayan was better than I expected. There was a good selection of cardio machines, each with a TV with quite a few channel options (I'd say at least 25) which is more than I can say for my gym back home. They have a pretty good selection of weight machines and I believe there were 2 wracks of dumbbells, but I’m not certain. Overall, it met our needs for a quick vacation workout.
we stayed at the grand lucayan for 5 days and used the excellent fitness center each day. kim's yoga and fit ball classes were excellent for beginner and advanced practitioner alike.
My wife and I got a couples massage and it made us feel brand new. We even took before and after photo's and saw the huge difference. This place is a legitimate spa and fitness center--so what you expect to find in the ones back home is what you find there. If you stay at the Raddisson resort, then the steam room, sauna, whirlpool and gym are all free.
Having visited a number of gyms at hotels and resorts on various vacations, I wasn't expecting much when I went in search of the gym. I was pleasantly surprised. The gym is on the top floor which seems to be a weird choice since the spa (and therefore the massages) take place directly below, but I digress. There are an impressive number of fitness classes offered (including my personal favorite, spinning!) and a number of different exercise machines. The machines aren't brand-spanking new but that's to be expected. Bottom line: there is something for everyone here; it's almost fun to come in and work off all of the delicious Bahamian food...almost.
