After reading numerous bad reviews about the Riu, we were prepared for the worst. This mental preparation and the fact that we tipped everyone ( bartenders, cleaning service, waiters, etc) resulted in us having an amazing time. The beach is the highlight. This deserves 10 stars. It was my favorite. We had access to chairs and umbrellas all day long. You will be able to swim with fish and stingray s ( no worries, they are friendly and rare). What a treat!!! The management kept the facilities cleaned all the day long. They are strict about cleaning and disinfecting, something we were happy to see. We had easy access to all the restaurants, elevators, beach chairs. Our room was cleaned every day upon request. Sandra, was amazing and left us an awesome towel design touch everyday. She was our star in our eyes. We think everyone works really hard at this resort to make our stay very pleasant. Our only negative experience was the lack of vent fan in the bathroom and the smell of sulfur when using hot water. This made the fog stay forever. We asked the main office to help us with that. They said they would send a technician, but they never did. Since we were already prepared for this type of answer and results due to negative comments read before, we decided to just let it go. Sandra’s cleaning made everything better.
There is great variety of food. Our favorites, the Jerk shack and the buffet. The other restaurants were Ok.
We think, the Riu offers great value for the money.

Room tip: Bring goggles so you are able to see the various school of fish at the beach and the occasional stingrays.

Everything was great, people complained about the lines but we never waited. The o ly thing I didn’t like was that the king bed was a double bed pushed together =\. But the staff was amazing and the pools and beaches were beautiful.

Truly enjoyed our vacation at Riu Palace Paradise Island! I am surprised to see many negative reviews about this resort. All of the staff are friendly, professional, and helpful (Shoutout to Monalisa and Kenny who work at the Buffet). The Buffet, Jerk Chicken Station, Japanese, and Steakhouse restaurants were all delicious. The hotel is extremely clean and you must wear a mask when walking in public areas of the hotel as well as sanitize before entering the restaurants. Entertainment all day at the pool with music, games, yoga, and dancing as well as a 24 hour bar with nightly entertainment. The best part of the hotel is the easy access to the BEAUTIFUL beach. Our room was clean and comfortable. Also easy and fast process for COVID testing received results within an hour. Would definitely vacation at Riu Palace again!

TIPS:
- If you are looking to book an excursion I recommend you book it as early as possible. We love the Blue Lagoon excursion but it was fully booked the week we were vacationing.
- If you plan on visiting Atlantis, make sure to bring your vaccination card with you or a negative COVID test. Security will not let you on the premises without that documentation.

Cons:
- No reservations for restaurants (make sure to line up early if you want to eat at a specialty restaurant, especially if you are a large group)
- Swim up bar was closed
- Noticed some guests were eating food and smoking inside the pool
- Drinks by the pool bar come in small cups, I would recommend bringing a tumbler with you

The property was nice, the rooms clean and the food was good quality.
The staff was very courteous. The beach is awesome, the swim up pool bar was still closed due to COVID. The nightly entertainment at the Calypso Club was not much to speak of, but open for drinks 24 hours.
The only disappointment was that the pool deck DJ played too much profanity and too much politically motivated music during the afternoons.

We really enjoyed our time at Riu at Paradise Island this summer. It was a very relaxing and overall wonderful trip. The staff members were friendly and accommodating. The food was decent - we especially enjoyed the Japanese restaurant and breakfast/lunch buffets. The pools were clean and relaxing, but the beach was the star of the show - it was absolutely incredible! The only negative thing was that the rooms could have used more pillows (and perhaps king sized pillows!) although I am sure the staff would have accommodated us had we requested some extra pillows. We look forward to returning next summer!
