1. The staff (exception of reception staff) are the most friendly and generous of people from gardner and cleaners to the owners
2 so nice so that they go beyond helping even when you haven't specifically made a request like finding me a dr and getting him to phone me
3 the setting is exquisite and is stepping into a lovely harmoniously cared for rainforest
4. The 'cottages' are great (climbs up a hill not withstanding and are part of the charm .... but make sure if you can't climb or are disabled to ask for a garden cottage which give you the beauty of many varieties of ginger Lilly ... gorgeous)
5. Everything is a wee bit 'tired' elsewhere and is in quite a need of some upgrading, the cottages are quite lovely with the outdoor showers and hardwood furniture but the main areas are in need of some considered thinking
6. Dinner is taken across a courtyard and can arrive cold or wet if it's raining despite staffs best efforts to bring it over
7. And this is the worst bit of the place ... the food it is tired, in need of a review and to think about who it's audience is the mass that arrives from the boats to a chocolate plantation or the guests who are staying for a few days .... the breakfast was atrocious the best bit being the homemade yogurt and freshly prepared smoothies and eggs which where freshly cooked but if not there early enough then smoothies were gone and then really not much left to enjoy eating ... there were too few guests to warrant the food prepared and so much better if all the lovely staff were able to take fresh requests each morning and not waste the food ... menu was limited and the same for five days we stayed stopped having dinner but lunch was slightly better but needs some thinking about to ... quality is poor re food and could be so much given how hard the owners are trying to promote the fact they grow so much of what we were eating it wasn't obvious and could be so good if they tried to work out who they want to feed
8. And the owners were lovely and St Lucian and really mindful of what they have and their staff but as a psychologist looking to in they are too close and over the years they have clearly lost objectiveness.. they need a manager and they need to pull back because they have developed this lovely thing and now it doesn't have the space to develop and grow as it is a little treasure , sadly I think they may have some sense of this as they had some public relationship training... but the staff are great...

Room Tip: Are great and unique and lovely showering with the outside coming in and assigned staff are wonderful friendly and couldn't do more loved being in the sky with hummingbirds and frogs and sense building built from the environment around it's a treasure

Always willing to Reciprocate.

We thank you Annie S for your guest feedback and sincere offer of help. Thank you for your kind appreciation of our famous St.Lucian hospitality and the Fonddoux brand of generosity. Your poetic rendering of the rainforest and authentic Caribbean cottages confirmed the reasons why we continue to receive accolades worldwide particularly " the World Boutique Hotel for Sustainability."
Fond Doux Plantation and Resort is currently revamping and transforming our culinary offerings in collaboration with a renowned St. Lucian chef and the guest feedback is very encouraging and is an absolutely exciting program embracing our mantra of " Plantation to Plate.".
We continue to preserve and maintain the Fonddoux Plantation as a prime example of an existing 250 year old working, traditional, colonial estate and to integrate this into our fabric of tourism sustainability. This is intrinsic and fundamental in our mission and vision for future generations.
We are confused about your reference to public relations and objectivity as your TripAdvisor profile shows the single review from you with a solitary stay. How can you judge the progress we have made in comparison to other properties in Soufriere.
We are forging ahead on a path to pioneer and reclaim a disappearing ethos our Caribbean environment with historical sites of significance to our world.
We respect your opinions and would love to welcome you again to reflect and collaborate on positive changes that would not impact on our mutual goals of sustainability in a changing world.

Best Regards,
Eroline and Lyton Lamontagne

Well laid out rooms and very beautiful property. Super friendly and polite staff. Great breakfasts, very central and convenient location. The resort exudes a real and authentic St. Lucia feel, not just another tourist hotel. They made the best coconut rum punch!

We stayed at Fond Doux in the Banana Tree Cottage for three nights. The property is so stunning and lush and it felt good to support ecotourism. We did however have a hard time getting a good sleep with the open air style without a closed off bedroom. It rained quite hard the first night and lots of things we falling onto our roof so it was quite noisy. We knew this from reviews, as well as the abundance of lizards, birds and frogs since it's in the middle of a rainforest. The pools are quite nice but please be aware they are very small dipping pools and not suitable for swimming lengths. There's an absolutely phenomenal hike at the back of the property to get a view of the Petit Piton. The food, especially dinner, was very good. Definitely recommend checking out Boucan by Hotel Chocolat for a treat one night. We enjoyed our stay, but would recommend checking out a room with a dipping pool that's higher up on the hill.

Amazing Plantation Resort with the Potential to Exceed all Expectations!
Dear Lizzyorchid,
Thank you for your review and for staying at Fond Doux Plantation & Resort. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. We wish to apologize as it appears that that your Fond Doux experience fell short of your expectations.
Many thanks for commenting on the natural beauty of the property and supporting our sustainable initiatives here at the resort.
At Fond Doux, all bedrooms are enclosed with doors and screened windows. The Tree House cottage is the only cottage with an open air style living room area where guest can take in the magical rainforest scenery. As you know, we are located within the rainforest and the cottages are surrounded by trees and lush tropical foliage and as expected when it rains heavily the leaves and ripened fruits would shed off their branches. We do however wish to apologize for the loud noises on your rooftop.
We are extremely pleased to read that you enjoyed our culinary offerings especially dinner. Our culinary team works very hard to create great dining experiences for our guests and we will be share your feedback with the team. Based on your feedback, it appears that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us. Hopefully on your return visit you will reserve the one bedroom cottage with pool which offers magnificent views of the plantation.

Best Regards,
Eroline and Lyton Lamontagne

Besides that it is near everything...Beautiful cabins and the foliage is beautiful...It's the people that work there that make it amazing. I stayed in the African tulip..loved it.
I want to thank the following people who made my trip perfect. Katrina, Denis, Lecia, and Garrett, and to those I have forgotten there names. I did the Plantation tour highly recommend it. Did the sulfer baths, tet Paul, rainforest(waterfall) with Mango..Horseback riding on 2 beaches with Sam..Atlantic...recommend all...ran out of time to do more which means will have to return and will be staying at Fond Doux!!! THANKS, Shari R.

A Beautiful Place to Create Amazing Memories!
Dear OutdoorsBKLYN,
Thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us and the Tripadvisor Community.
We are pleased to see that you had a great time and that we met your expectations both as a resort and quality of service from our team members. The staff are indeed a great credit to the resort and they are well known for their authentic Saint Lucian hospitality. We will be sure to pass on your feedback to all of them.

It appears that you took the time to explore both in and around the Soufriere area. There is so much to see and do in beautiful Saint Lucia and so we certainly agree that you have to return to do more fun activities.

Thank you once again and we look forward to your return visit.

Best Regards,
Eroline and Lyton Lamontagne

Very lovely place. So relaxing. Great staff. Owners very much hands on and welcoming. Fabulous birds. Three pools and library area. Great breakfasts! We enjoyed the trails in the grounds and photographing birds.

Room Tip: Cinnamon was great little cottage, tucked away, regular visits from Hummingbirds, Banana Quits and of course a resident Ghecko or two.....bliss. NO TELEVISION to spoil the tranquility.
