“Perfect place to call home during our Puerto Rico vacation”

In a half hour tour of the neighborhood, Richard empowered us to enjoy San Juan like we lived there. He showed us the noteworthy restaurants in Santurce, how to use the bus, which way to go to get the beach and Old Town, the closest supermarket, the car rental in the neighborhood, everything we needed plus a load more info. The location of the rental meant that we walked and walked and walked during our visit, but we had some incredible meals and were so far from the beaten track that I kept asking my husband why no tourists came to PR. (When we arrived at the taxi line outside the SJ airport, the taxi driver wasn't familiar with Santurce and asked if WE had a map!)

Our part of the building (the Casita) included our bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and was certainly all we needed. RIchard does a really nice job providing the essentials (coffee, sunscreen, towels) that weren't practical to bring. The place is very secure with multiple locks/gates, but in a funny contrast is also open air, which was nice for us because we wanted every bit of tropical air we could get. Overall, it wasn't cookie-cutter or luxurious but it was comfortable, memorable, and we had a blast.

“Richard thought of everything a traveler might need - and exceeded them.”

The casita was an excellent value, very clean and comfortable. Richard is more than a property owner/manager. He is your local tour guide and acclimated us to the area with a wealth of information we would otherwise have missed. There is nowhere else I'd rather stay in San Juan. The ability to speak with someone who knows the city ahead of time and while there was invaluable.

We lucked out royally. A late cancellation got us a no cost upgrade to the second floor suite, although we did see the Casita Suite and it would have been fine. The whole San Juan experience starts with Richard though, who goes out of his way to insure that you'll have a delightful time. He provides a wealth of information before you arrive and then also leads you on a walking tour of the neighborhood, once your there. A separate TV room, full size kitchen and formal dining area in addition to a very nice bedroom and private bath completed the suite. But then we also had two fully furnished balconies complete with hammocks, multiple seating areas, and night time lighting. I kept thinking that I needed to serve cocktails or something just to take advantage of all the seating, but mint tea made with fresh mint from one of the balcony pots was as close as I came. Ceiling fans, AC, and real windows and doors with mosquito netting permit everyone to choose their ideal cooling process. And there's always the beach just a comfortable walk away.

“Enjoyable escape from Winter”

Staying at the Casita Suite in the SJ Arts District was a rewarding and relaxing experience. The weather from January 11th through January 18th was absolutely delightful. The temperatures during the daytime averaged around 85 degrees and the evening temperatures were approximately 70 degrees. The only means of transportation that we used were walking and the M3 bus to Old San Juan. Richard was an excellent and knowledgeable host and provided us with many good restaurant choices. All the meals were wonderful; however, the Puerto Ricans don't have many spices in their foods. Some of our favorite restaurants were 1). Jose Enrica's restaurant in Santurce (ask Richard for directions, 2) Abracadabra which is 2 doors down from the Casita (would recommend both breakfast and dinner, but would skip bunch on weekends, and 3). St. Germain Bistro and Café in Old San Juan.

We spent 3 days in Old San Juan and really enjoyed this city and shops.

“If you want something interesting and out of the ordinary stay here.”

Our stay with Richard was great. If you are in Puerto Rico for any reason and want a real not hotel experience this is the place to stay. Public transportation takes you anywhere cheaply, experiences, museums, and local cultural fare were right outside the door. We stayed in the middle apartment of the complex; the kitchen was as complete as anything you would ever want whatever cuisine you cooked. As we were there over the Xmas holiday many restaurants were closed but the very modern grocery/wine store was open 24/7 and just two blocks away. Old San Juan was a 20 min bus ride. The beaches were within walking distance. And Richard knows the area very well from many aspects and made our stay delightful. You will not be disappointed period.
