“Superlative accommodations, host and location.”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 for a stay in January 2014

The owner, Richard, met us at the apartment and provided a quick tour of the facilities (we rented the top floor apartment) followed by a walking tour of the neighbourhood. All very informative and helpful!!! Very clean facility which left you wanting for nothing except a return visit. The only small negative was the water temp in the shower, which ran hot and cold. Overall we were very satisfied with this excellent rental facility.

“Great option to be in the middle of everything for a reasonable price”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

Richard did a great job. He was very helpful during the booking process and he took some time after checking in to show us around the neighbourhood. During the week he even brought us some treats!

We stayed in the Casita which was reasonable two people. A big bed with a big screen tv and a washroom. There was also a shared kitchen available and we cooked a lot of meals on site and saved a lot of money that way. Place was clean and within walking distance to the beach and Condado along with one bus ride to old San Juan. I'd stay again.

“Great stay in Santurce”

We stayed at Calle Saldana for a week in December and were completely satisfied with the accommodations. Open air kitchen fully equipped even with spices and a porch on both ends of our second floor flat. Richard was an amazing host and tour guide for the neighborhood. Abracadabra was on the corner and just deluxe for breakfast. Richard also gave us a tour of the neighborhood and the Plaza de Mercado Santurce, which was hopping on Thursday and Friday nights. Great restaurants nearby, especially Jose Enrique. Google maps make no sense because of the one way streets but the location allowed easy access to art galleries, performance venues, coffee shops, a supermarket, beaches and a short bus ride to Old San Juan. Richard also gave us directions to Camuy Caverns, El Yunque, Liquillo Beach and elsewhere. Cable tv and WiFi, we couldn't have asked for much more. When we come back to San Juan, we know where to book.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 19 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This is tucked away in an urban neighborhood going through renewal, is away from touristy destinations and has a very special feel. The penthouse apartment which Richard designed and had custom built, is a unique escape, a hide-away, villa, garden and "urban tree house" all wrapped into a very relaxing stay. It is a beautiful, spacious, private, calming space and if I come back to this area I will stay here again. The space alone was a treat, made us feel special, and that we we were on a true vacation. It's a great value too. You would pay 5-10 times Richards asking price if this space were at a 5 star beach hotel. It isn't at the beach but, we felt we were actually better here than captivated in a hotel. We felt like we were residing on a big campus ( greater San Juan) rather than in one spot. We could jump on the bus (never waited long) or in our car outside our door and be somewhere new with little trouble (except navigating the local drivers-kind of humorous if you ask me)This gave us more variety and enabled us to splurge even more; taking advantage of anything eastern PR has to offer; the best 5-star quality restaurants and excursions. Parking is a breeze and we were literally a stone's throw from major access points for exploring the best beaches in San Juan. Very convenient location and 2 doors from a bus stop which takes you into San Juan in @ 12 minutes for 50 cents (bus runs all the time). Even though we rented a car we also used the bus. Richard is a professional and runs his place like a hotel (he's sort of a concierge). Everything was as advertised, and more. If you like the independence of vacationing the way we did, then this is a place you'll high five over.

“RICHARD and his property are AMAZZZZZIIINNNGG!!”

I visited Puerto Rico this February with my friends for my birthday and had an amazing time! Everything I read in the reviews before visiting was exact!

Richard was helpful all throughout the booking process--he spoke with me over the phone and via email and was more than happy to answer any questions I had. All payments were secure through PayPal, and he was prompt with sending confirmations/receipts.

When we arrived Richard was right there to greet us at the door and helped us get our bags into the house. We rented out the 2 rooms on the 2nd floor, and everything is exactly as it looks in the pictures! It is a BEAUTIFUL house! He gave us a personal tour of the community and informed us of which busses/bus stops to use to get to the surrounding cities.

He was extremely engaging and made us feel like we were at home! I would recommend this rental to ANYONE visiting Puerto Rico!....and make sure you eat at Abracadabra!!!! The staff is friendly/professional and the food is the best!
