Me, my wife, 5 year old son, and 1 year old daughter just returned from an 8 day vacation. We stayed at the Cove three years ago and had a great time. Booked for there again and was excited for the trip. Both times we booked on the Splash side orginally and upgraded at front desk to oceanfront on the Cove side. End of day we maxed out our enjoyment of the place, and got a refund for last three nights. Went and finished trip at Beaches Ocho Rios and it was greatest decision ever.

Pros- Most of the staff is very passionate about their jobs and people. Tshean (entertainment crew), Muta (DaMora waiter), and Sharmain (daycare) are outstanding employees that we consider friends.

Montego Bay Snorkeling is one of a kind!!!!!! The coral reef right outside of hotel is amazing. Ocho Rios did not touch our trip.

Cons- Price. While three years ago (my first all inclusive) I thought $500 was a great price to upgrade to oceanside for a week. This year they charged $1200 for same upgrade and the place was dead. Along with that babysitting price went up to $20 an hour. When you are traveling with a one year old and factor this in, you are better off staying at a beaches.

Food- The selection has gone downhill in last three years. This has been confirmed through the employees I have chatted with also. Expect little seafood and lots of pasta. While we were there during the slow time I understand, two days and you are over the food selection.

Drinks- The locals and employees laugh about the "no alcohol-alcohol" served at all inclusives. While this is not just at Sunscape, bottom line you will drink all day and not get drunk. Again when we checked into Beaches, after two drinks I was feeling buzzed which didn't happen all day at the Cove.

Over the top service- The service was good but not great. Not to be snotty but we were staying in one of the most expensive rooms. Little things like not being allowed to pick a table to eat away from others so our baby would not disturb them. We were told no and sit with the others.

Overall it is not a horrible place, but if I would have known about price jump I would not stay there. We paid the same amount for our last three nights at Beaches and the two do not compare.

Room tip: For a quieter time with no elevator stay on the Cove side.

Spent a week here with my wife and 17 month old baby. I must say the staff there was amazing and very friendly. I was disappointed however with the food. Needed a lot more options with the menu as well as more authentic Jamaican food. They had the same exact menus at the restaurants everyday for the entire week. I was expecting the jerk chicken cart coming around with real jerk instead of oven cooked jerk chicken. The room service menu was not even close to acceptable.
Other than the food though the entertainment was great and the hotel in general was ok. Would I stay there again? Depends on if there were some changes made!!!

The staff at this resort are awesome, there was four or five that I just loved. Can't remember their names. The resort is very pretty and the grounds are kept well maintained. On a more negative note, the bed in our room was so hard I could not get a good night sleep because I could never get comfortable. Also the food on the buffet was not good at all (breakfast, lunch and dinner). So we didn't eat there but the three times, we chose to eat at the specialty restaurants and I have to say that they were so much better. Jamaica is a beautiful country.

This is our 2nd visit to this resort. Once was 6 years ago for our honeymoon under different ownership. This visit was just as great starting with a very warm welcome by the staff and a relaxing, quiet vacation. We stayed on the Cove side in a room with an ocean view - it is well worth the money in our mind - and literally steps to the ocean. We chose lounge chairs on the far side of beach (farthest from the volleyball court) and enjoyed listening to the ocean while we read out books. The food options are great and I love the fresh fruit, jerk chicken, vegetable options, and of course the coffee is amazing.
The staff are really wonderful. I can't remember everyone's name but Ryan (our butler) was so kind and generous with his time and did everything from break a $20 bill for us to getting jerk chicken from the kitchen when it wasn't on the menu. Rickie and Garvin were great bartenders - fun, funny, nice, and made great drinks :) We had massages on 2 days with Marlene and another therapist and they were amazing. Truly all of the staff are so nice, fun to talk with, and so willing to help.
