We visited Riu Reggae for my wedding anniversary. Overall our 7-day stay was amazing. The food was good, the property was clean and the customer service was exceptional. Every night they have entertainment and there is a nightclub at Riu Montego Bay, which is about a 5 minute walk. There are two pools at Riu Reggae and both have a pool bar and play music. One suggestion would be to update the music playlist. They played the same songs over and over, so guests brought their own bluetooth speakers to the pool for some variety. The oceanfront suite is definitely the way to go. Guests that stay during the week were more mature and friendlier. Guests on the weekend were younger (be prepared to see a lot of thong swimsuits) and not as friendly. A few were very rude to staff. I give them credit for showing patience because I would have asked them to leave the property. They tried to provide events during the day like an aerobics class on the beach, as well as a Foam pool party, which was a lot of fun. I think a live cooking class or wine tasting would be good additions to the schedule. Another suggestion would be to provide more late night food options since most guests are out late. This Riu was one of the better ones that I have visited. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Splurge and get the oceanfront suite. The view is amazing!

I don’t normally write reviews but I must this time so here it goes....the hotel including the rooms are very clean and up to date.....entertainment awesome....beach spectacular....food off the charts....but.....always a but....the hospitality ZERO .....staff will walk right by you and not even acknowledge your presence...front desk horrible and the gift shop staff even worst....so if your ok with that you’ll have an awesome time....

My husband and I just got married at the RIU Reggae on 06-23-18 and I must say the service was exceptional. It was a total of 24 guests that traveled to see us get married and everyone enjoyed their stay. From the time you arrive someone meets you with Champagne or drinks. The staff is very friendly special thanks to Nesta, Sheldon ohh my so many people you guys were all amazing. There are so many options that you have for eating just have to make sure you know your times for all meals because after 1030p there isn’t really anything but nachos and sandwiches.Food was great and if you go must try the jerk hut (make sure you get in line early because it will get long after 12p and it doesn’t matter what day it is) Christina Dunbar the wedding coordinator and staff made our wedding experience so stress free everything was so beautiful and well put together. Thank you Christina and Staff for providing us with such an amazing experience for us and our guests. Also there are plenty of excursions to go on so feel free to visit the JTL ladies or Saschta at the Amstar table for different options. We did the DreAmer Catamaran Cruise to go snorkeling, margaritaville and few other places and had the time of our life. No need to convert your money to Jamaican dollars they will take US dollars .

Girls trip to Riu Reggae for four days. This was a great hotel choice for us because there was in general a party atmosphere, which is exactly what we were looking for. There seemed to be more groups and singles than couples. There were twerking contests by the pool as well as other events like a foam party at DJ by the pool.

The resort is nice, not amazing, but well kept and you always see people cleaning. The beach is small and seems man made, but the sand and water are beautiful. Beds are comfortable but small - full size, but feel smaller. There's an interesting clouded glass window separating the shower from the main room, so if privacy is important to you, this is something to note. We had very good service from housekeeping whenever we made a request.

The buffet food was similar to other all-inclusives I have visited. But several of the sit down dinner restaurants were also buffet, or at least partial buffet, which was disappointing. There are also several hours during the day (as well as any time after 10pm) when no food is available other than the lobby bar. The lobby bar has a sad selection of self serve food including nachos (sometimes cold) and sandwiches, sometimes fruit, and scary looking hot dogs.

Our crew spent a lot of time in the pool and had a great time making friends with a diverse group of people. They have some games like Jenga (in the pool) as well as ping pong, a large chess board, etc. Drinks were typical all inclusive. The staff was very friendly and we got great service from Petrina. Tipping seems to be common, but I did not feel pressure to tip and felt I got the same service wether I tipped or not.

We took one excursion on the Booze Cruise. Snorkeling was a bit difficult due to choppy waters but everyone still had a good time. If you take the cruise, a word of warning about Margaritaville - be careful what you order! We ordered six margaritas, six waters, and some chips and salsa. Our bill was about $180. Apparently we were given souvenir glasses (which we really didn't want and ended up leaving there!). But they also have some fun water sports here like trampolines, a water slide that shoots you out into the ocean (pretty fast!) and an inflatable iceberg to climb up. The cruise back was an all out party and so much fun. I would definitely recommend this excursion. We paid $50 per person.

Nightly shows are entertaining and most of the audience seemed to love them. We did try the disco one night and it was pretty good but very hot and we eventually left to get some fresh air.

Obviously you're in Jamaica, so if you go on your balcony or to the beach, there are people trying to sell pot. These people can't come on the resort, and I always felt safe.

Recommendations I would have include having live music somewhere on the resort, having food available all day, and improving the 24 hour food options. We did eventually get smart and got some items from the dinner buffet to put in our room refrigerator for a late night snack after the bar.

After a short transfer the arrival was met with a glass of sparkling wine. Booking in was quick & completed by pleasant reception staff. Our room on the first floor was very good, bathroom excellent with twin so ks& good shower. The food was provided in 5 restaurants so there was something to everyone. There is Italian, Asian, steakhouse, a la carte & self service. There was a wide choice in the self serve with theme nights & always a choice of Jamaican dishes. The entertainment staff were very good, something for everybody , the team Sonic, Shampoo,String Bean, Barbie to mention a few. The evening shows were well done, a lot of effort put into them. The beach was not large but well looked after. There is also a jerk chicken but on the beach providing great jerk every lunchtime. Overall a good adult only holiday. The only down is you do get several parties of Canadian & American young adults on short breaks plus little enforcing of non smoking areas.
