The guys at Macao Surf Camp were amazing, and surfing truly was the highlight of our Punta Cana trip. I will say that the amount of stray dogs and cats and mistreated horses giving horseback rides on the beach and leaving a ton of waste behind created a perfect situation for hookworm and other infections. It is a beautiful beach though, save for the litter and stray animals using it as a giant litter box.

Macao beach is one of the best beaches around. Just be aware of current and hi tide.
Few local places to eat at the beach but if driving, bring your food.
Beautiful beach and place to spend hours swimming or just watching the sunset.

The currents at this beach is very very dangerous. My GF and her sister we pulled out too far and the lifeguard and her husband had to go rescue them. Water is very blue and beautiful but stay close to shore.

Absolutely great place to learn how to surf. Sandy bottoms, great waves for beginners, and the staff are outstanding to teach and assist you in getting up and getting your first set of waves under your feet....literally!!

Beautiful beach, great waives to learn surfing for anyone. There is a rental place for surf boards for beginners and great surf lessons on long board waives. Taxis a bit pricey to get there.
