Really really enjoyed our stay at this resort !!

The food was lovely, the service was amazing, the staff OMG so friendly and helpful :) was spot on.

Bermudez, the bartender from the pool bar, he was number one barman of all ! Such a great person, really good.

Freddy, the animator, he was outstanding in all aspects - dancing with guests, doing all activities, making sure everyone is happy. He was amazing !

Luilly, the waiter, spot on, always there if ran out of drink or making sure all the food was fine, and most important was carrying Such a big smile with him all the time.

All in all highly recommended resort, definitely will be returning to RIU resorts all over the world.

Thanks for amazing stay !

Wife and I stayed for a week in August of 2018. Overall I have to say this resort has a lot to offer. It has a lot of pros and a few cons. First the pros...

#1- It's VERY CLEAN. I cannot stress enough just how clean this place is. From the hotel lobby, to the grounds, the swimming pools, bars, restaurants, bathrooms , walkways and the guest rooms. All are spotless. Everywhere you look there is staff constantly performing cleaning and or maintenance and it shows.

#2- The service and staff are WONDERFUL. This resort takes a lot of staff and they are all very pleasant and very hard working. We got excellent service everywhere, so friendly! Not all of the staff speak English but most of the staff that has direct customer contact such as the bartenders and wait staff do. In any event language was never really an issue. You are not expected to tip here but we always did, it just seemed the right thing to do based on the level of service provided.

#3- It's QUIET! Being adults only there are no children and it was so nice not having the chaos and noise that children will bring, especially at the beach.

#4- Everything is centrally located, you don't have to walk that far to get to where you want to go. Even the beach is just a short walk away.

#5- The entertainment is enjoyable. This resort puts on shows every evening at 9:30 PM, usually by the same entertainment staff that is there during the morning and afternoon. My wife really enjoyed their dancing and costumes. How these people have that much energy is beyond me, but they really do their job very well.

The Riu also has a Casino, we gave it a walk through but it looked a little sketchy. Also with all the bad reviews we've read about their “new game scam” we just decided to avoid it.

#6- Buffet Food was EXCELLENT! For breakfast and lunch you must eat at a buffet type setting, however the food choice options are plentiful and there should be something there that most everyone would enjoy eating. The produce and fruits were VERY FRESH and tasted wonderful. Same story with the fish, very fresh and very tasty. I would imagine some of these items are grown close by, at least it tasted like it.

Same story for the evening buffet as well, always a good option. The food on the buffet is rotated, so you don't quite get the same thing every day.

#7- Internet WIFI Service was excellent. Great coverage in the room and on the resort grounds including the swimming pool areas. If you leave this resort however your wifi account will not work at the other Riu properties.

The Cons:

#1- Resort is a bit dated. Although it's been well maintained, it's old and it shows. Rooms could use some updating.

#2- There are not many elevators and they are not air conditioned and have NO ventilation. While we were there one of the elevators was constantly out of service. This wasn't a big issue for us but there were not a lot of guests staying at the time. Had the Resort been full this would have been a huge issue.

#3- The “Specialty Restaurants” were AWFUL. While the ambiance of the restaurants were good, the actual food itself was bland and usually way over cooked. I got the impression that each dish was not cooked to order but had been sitting under a heat lamp instead. We tried all 4 of the restaurants with the same results. Twice we simply had to leave our plates and headed to the buffet to eat instead.

#4- The beach is a mess. The seaweed has simply taken over making it difficult to swim and impossible to lay on the beach (directly in front of the water). It's a real shame because without all of the seaweed this beach would have been perfect. I DO NOT blame the Riu for this and frankly there is so much seaweed that no amount of manpower is really going to solve this problem. While some of the resorts did have a tractor on the beach picking up the seaweed, the heavy equipment itself was causing damage to the beach aside from the seaweed. Also, once all of the seaweed was taken off the beach more would just come in anyway. I didn't see any point in trying to remove it.

Again this is not the fault of the Riu or any other resort. Hopefully nature will solve this problem. If you're main purpose of your visit is to swim in the ocean and enjoy the beach you will be disappointed.

The Riu does have chairs and lounges to sit in further back which was nice.

So while there are a few issues overall this is a good resort especially for the price point.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday staying at this hotel. We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every second. The entertainment staff were fantastic, the food was lovely and plenty of choice although my favourite was the Italian restaurant. All the waiters and waitresses couldn’t do enough for you and alawaya greet you with a smile and love to make your stay the most enjoyable. The rooms were comfortable and yes maybe a little out of date but all you do is mainly sleep or getting changed so I don’t see any issues there at all. We will be returning one day for another perfect holiday
Thank you again to all the fabulous staff at the Rui Palace Macao xxxx

I have never reviewed a hotel on here before, but I feel that Riu Palace Macao deserves it. From the minute we arrived a fruit juice waiting for us along with a very happy man called Roberto who told us everything we needed to know.

When we got to our room, they had decorated it with hearts out of towels, flowers, chocolates and mamajuana, which was a really nice touch. The flowers and different towel designs were freshened up every day thanks to the lovely cleaners and the mini bar was always stocked up. We were on the first floor overlooking the gardens and Caribbean Street.

There is not one thing I can fault about this hotel, from the minute we arrived, the staff were warm and friendly and this continued all week. I have never met people who work so hard, enjoy their job and want to have a laugh with you!

If you are thinking about booking a trip here I would definitely advise it. We are 27 and 30 and had the most amazing time, it was also so nice to talk to lots of different people from different age groups. The grounds are pristine and the staff go out of their way to ensure you have a good holiday...I must have drank at least 30 Sunrise cocktails this week thanks to the staff who come round whilst you are sunbathing. Sad to be going home but I will definitely be visiting RIU hotels in the future!
