We stayed at the Crown Villas, and the home was so nice. We had our own housekeeper and Chef Julio made our breakfast every morning. The selection of restauranst on the property was so varied, it was really the only decision we had to make each day. There are more bars than you can visit in one week and the Dominican people are very friendly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for someplace to truly relax and enjoy time with the friends or family. Heavenly!!

This was my 3rd stay at the Lifestyle Vacation resort. This time we rented a 3-bedroom villa and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even more than the previous 2 times. The villa comes with gold bracelets for access to special beaches and restaurants, a golf cart, a maid/cook, a private pool, one bottle of booze per person, daily stock of bottled beer/soda/water, and tickets to Ocean World. The reservation process through Carol O. was easy and error-free. The shuttle picked us up at the airport as scheduled and check-in at the resort was quick and easy. We picked up our golf cart--a real bonus on such a huge property.

The restaurant reservation system is a bit wonky. We thought we were making reservations when we arrived only to find out that we were only making requests. While checking something else at the service center we discovered we had been given only one of the restaurants we requested. So we ended up going to the VIP service center each day or two and managed to get into every restaurant we wanted--including Simply Gourmet. The only time we ate at the buffet for dinner was the evening we arrived. Just be prepared to ask for reservations daily.

The buffet is the way to go for lunch. Good selection and you can pick up "groceries" for later in your villa. Ask for a couple to-go boxes and fill them with fruit you can use to make frozen rum drinks and veggies/olives/pickles you can snack on.

Limited free wi-fi access. We could get Internet on a couple of the beaches and in one corner of our villa's pool area. That was fine for us and I wouldn't recommend paying for Internet access.

The maid coming in every morning to make breakfast was awesome. We went to the buffet for breakfast one time and vowed never to go back. Why wait in line when Clara laid out such a fresh, delicious breakfast next to our private pool? And the private pool was one of our favorite features. After a day at the beach, a dip in the fresh water pool was refreshing and pre-dinner cocktails poolside were magical.

We thought the Sunday welcome party was too big, too, noisy, and not fun. We left right after eating and before the entertainment started. We did enjoy the fireworks show which we could see from our poolside lounge chairs.

Loved Simply Gourmet, Radizzio, Blue Lagoon, and Jazz. Also loved the oyster bar and crepe bar on Serenity Beach, and the sushi bar and cold stone ice cream shop near the VIP Beach.

Be prepared for a little sales pressure. Various staff people will encourage you to take atour of the property and see all the amenities, but it's just a way to get you alone. They'll offer you a free gift (a small bottle of Don Rhon rum and a bottle of mama juana stuff), but it's not worth the hour or more you'll lose being pressured to buy in. It's pretty easy to put them off. Either tell them you can't afford it or that you've already talked to another rep. Whatever you do, don't take the tour!

By Dominican standards our villa was probably 5 stars. By US standards, it was closer to 3 stars. The villa we had was fine for our needs. It was not one of the luxury models we had seen on a tour the previous year, but it was comfortable and convenient to everything we needed. It was clean but a bit run down--furniture was dated, tiles cracked/missing in the bathrooms, shower heads had low water pressure. I am not complaining, but be aware that some of the villas are newer and nicer than others.

I cannot emphasize enough the difference having the gold bracelet made. Way better stuff! I don't now about black bracelet. Maybe they get even better stuff, but I don't see how it can be better. :-) Booking a villa through Carol O at VIP Lifestyle Vacations is the way to go, and we can't wait to book another vacation through her next year.

“Great vacation - too bad about the beach”

We stayed at the Lifestyle Resort and Spa in a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom villa we were 7 people in the villa but 29 people traveling together. We bought the all inclusive VIP bracelet (the black braclet). The positive things about this trip besides the company was the food, lobster, steak, scallops, shrimp, crab, salmon, mahi mahi, filet mignon, lamb, oysters at the oysters bar, tapas at the tapas bar plus the drinks included grand marnier, drambuie, top shelve vodka, rye and very good wine. The service by the pool side in the restaurants etc was excellent and then we had a maid at our villa everyday cooking breakfast (eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast potatoes, juice, coffee which was great. We could order any alcohol we wanted in our room for our consumption. That was really cool. The people were friendly. The place had a lot of class. The trip to and from the resort in a limousine and by helicopter (for some of us) was out of this world. However, the beach is the not very nice. It is dirty with stuff people throw in the oceans is awful. There are weeds all the time in the water and on the side of the beach. I didn't even swim in the ocean once during the week so that was disappointed.

“Fantastic vacation with my family”
Reviewed 9 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We love this resort. We had a villa. Had a three bedroom. It is beautiful at this resort. It is so big, that you can swim at a new pool everyday. The best part is having your own, pool and yard as well. The maid making breakfast every morning on the deck was great. We loved spending special time with our grown children and their girl friends. Love the weather and the people there in DR. I would go back anytime. Love the whole place. VIP is the best way to go. They don't forget about anything. The best ever.
