Nice ambience and friendly waiters. Service however was mixed during the three times we visited the place last month. It depends a lot how busy they are and that is normally the case in the high season. First time the Scaloppina di Vitella was served lukewarm but the second time - after telling them - it was perfect. The Anti Pasta was not that exciting so suggest trying the Carpaccio di Tonno Rosso and as the main course the well prepared and delicious Filetto Manzo al Burro di Tartufo Nero. In the last thirty years the Mariachi Band still has the same repertoire and get somewhat boring after two hours but overall can recommend the place.

If you have never been to Altos De Chavon in La Romana in the Dominican Republic on the grounds of Casa De Campo, well, you are missing out. This replica of an ancient Italian village is something so very special and picturesque and totally unexpected but also incredibly delightful. La Piazzetta is a classic Italian restaurant nestled in this faux Italian town, and the food is quite good as is the service. This restaurant is also included as the only restaurant in this location to be part of the all-inclusive plan at the resort so I was concerned maybe it wasn’t going to be as good but actually it was great. We had a mix of different kinds of food restrictions or a table of nine people from vegetarians to gluten-free to dairy free and everyone was satisfied. The catch of the day was red snapper and they kindly deboned the fish but before doing that they brought it out to show on a giant skillet and when they ultimately serve it they were so much on the plate it was enough for two people. They have mini pasta dishes and they were happy to substitute the sauces and I have the potato gnocchi and it was incredibly good with a simple tomato sauce and grated Parmesan cheese. Multiple diners had the fillet mignon and they all reported that it was mouthwatering. And don’t even get me started on the desserts because they were spectacular including some sort of a warm net tele-chocolate mix served almost like a hot chocolate in the mug. There was also a parfait topped with some sort of cherry compote. And all-around great experience.
The Dominican musicians consisted of an accordion player and guitar player and a singer and they went table to table taking personal requests and they were incredibly talented and loads of fun.

We loved La Piazzetta, and even though Altos Chavon is a little farther to go for dinner from the resort, it's worth the drive. If we had more time in the DR, we would have gone back for another dinner!

It's a beautiful, quaint restaurant with superb service. There were several waiters who attended to our every request - as well as cleared our plates very quickly.

We both started wit the Antipasto Italian - which is an Italian style buffet of meats, cheese, and pates. We thought it was very good and really hit the spot.

For our entrees, I got the Lamb Ravioli with a Green Asparagus Ragu and Caper Butter and my husband got the Spaghetti Chitarro with seafood. Both dishes were excellent. We could got get enough of either of our dishes and highly recommend them.

For dessert we got the Leche Frita - which is a vanilla cake that is slightly fried and it came with a cream glaze. It was a good ending to a great meal.

I would recommend La Piazzetta to everyone - especially if you are part of the all-inclusive.

We had a nice dinner sitting outside at La Piazetta. It was essentially a private dinner as there was no one else seated outside, and we had great service from 3 attentive waiters. The linguine bolognese was good, the lasagna ok. Good choice for a relaxed dinner.
