This is a bit out of the way. To be honest, I didn't want to go, but our tour guide insisted. Beautiful trees and a flowing river, but lots of trash. Our guide said it was an offering to the river goddess done during their religious ceremony. We were also warned that we may see some dead chickens, also used in the ceremony.

Stay away - this is not worthy of a visit. The area we wandered about was filled with trash and my young children stumbled upon a decapitated dog head. I'm not sure why our guide brought us here but we did a quick 180. There are far better sites in Havana.

We stopped by as part of our tour, since we were in the neighborhood. I loved the trees! The lush greenery and curtains of vines were really very nice to see, but the ground was pretty badly littered with trash and, er, the biological remnants of Santeria rituals. We were there on a cool-ish Friday morning in March so it wasn't too bad, but I suspect it could get prettttty stanky come warmer weather. That said, if you want to see some Santeria rituals in action this is probably a good place to stake out!

Also: there's limited parking and not much cab traffic, so if you end up getting here by cab I'd recommend you have them wait for you or arrange for them to come back and pick you up later, or you'll have a rough time of it getting back!

Parque Almendares is a bit out of Havana city center. There is no need to go especially to here but if your daily programme is stopping here or passing by you can stop for a few nice pictures to take.

it could be a nice place but, unfortunately, too much rubbish in the paths and actually nothing to enjoy
