Stayed upon arrival at Marriott for one night, hence it looked good and after a 10 hour flight you wish to relax in a comfortable room and clean place. Airport transfers had been suspended due to Corona and after calling the hotel, they would not offer one adhoc. To please take a taxi at 10dollar. Okay, fine. The accommodation is nicely laid out, nice pool and proper room. Check-in was difficult hence I booked through the Marriott app a room which apparently was only meant for locals. So upon arrival, the request to re-book myself through third party booking.com (which ended up being cheaper, interesting revenue management?), I asked if they could honor the same rate and quickly make a new booking allowing me to at least get my points (and as you just wish to go to a room after a long flight its just a little hassle). No, they could not. After a tiring explanation which made no sense we made the booking through booking.com - so much for supporting direct bookings. The service in the restaurant pool was rather slow, but hey island time - i could get over this. Next day we booked Bridanda which was heavenly and all we were looking for, they texted us the day of check in to ask if we needed a pick up (very different from start at Marriott/ i get volumes might be different but still) and they picked us up from Marriott.

Room tip: beach only reachable by car

Hi TravelMarel,

Thank you very much for your comments about our facilities. We are also very grateful for your whole review. Each feedback from our clients brings us closer to our goal, which is to exceed the expectations of our guests and achieve pleasant accommodation experiences. On this occasion we have not achieved this task with you and for this I extend my sincere apologies on behalf of the hotel and my own. We were unable to be sufficiently explanatory with you, regarding your original reservation and we noticed that this created an unpleasant moment for you.

As a valued costumer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your comments. We also recognize these are unusual times and we thank you for choosing to stay with us.

Kind regards,

Nelson Ruiz

I spent 15 days in Bonaire for work and stayed at the Courtyard. The hotel is just great. The receptionists are very friendly and always smiling. The rooms are clean and cosy. The restaurant is top. I had fish almost every evening and was delighted, not to mention the service that was very good. I recommend the Courtyard and will be there again when I go back to Bonaire next year.

We spent a week here in February and loved the hotel. It's clean, pretty, well managed, and very comfortable. It probably has one of the most comfortable beds of any hotel I've ever stayed at. Housekeeping kept the room perfectly clean which is likely a challenge in a dive-themed resort. The hotel is actually beautiful and blends in well with the surrounding area. Our room was quiet which was a big plus.
The desk and office staff were extremely helpful during our stay and even prior to our arrival when we arranged for the free pickup at the airport. There is plenty of free parking which we utilized for our rented truck. The dive shop located onsite was also great because we didn't have to leave the hotel to obtain our Nature Fee permit. The hotel restaurant - lounge was also nice to have available on the days we didn't want to drive around for dinner. At the end of our vacation we didn't want to leave Bonaire and the Courtyard was one of the reasons we wanted to stay longer.

Room tip: Ground floor is probably better

Just got back from Bonaire and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott. The hotel was very clean and modern. Service was excellent. Just a few items that could have made our week stay a bit better. They have a lovely pool and hot tub but no where to hang wet bathing suits in the rooms. As we were there for a week (3 adults) we found there was not enough table or counter space to store three large suitcases so we ended up pulling out the ironing board and using that as a surface. In general the room needs more hooks to hang things to get stuff off the floor.
Our daughter is a smoker and we did not have a balcony so this did present a challenge. We did have a small patio on the second level of the building out front and asked if we could get some outdoor chairs placed there so she could smoke. They did accommodate us but would suggest they place some chairs in this space permanently so this lovely little space could be used all the time.
In general Bonaire is a small island and their infrastructure is primitive. I thought I could walk into town however there is no sidewalks and traffic moves very fast on the roads, No street lights so you do not want to be walking at night. All the food was excellent however very expensive. Everything is in American dollars so if you are Canadian you will pay on the exchange as well. Dinner average for 3 adults was around $100 U.S. each night and that's only one meal of the day. The snorkeling and windsurfing are top notch but you will need some form of transportation to get around the island.
The sun is very, very intense so make sure you bring long sleeves and long pants because you will burn fast.
Great holiday overall.

Room tip: Select a room that has a patio
