We had a great time doing nothing but sun, beach, drinking & eating for our 7 day stay. we left on June 27th and wish we were returning today. Hopefully we will be returning in 2019 for another relaxing week..

Not to our expectation. Compare the Barcelo Hotel in Aruba to the Barcelo Hotel in Punta Cana, DR is like day in night. Punta Cana, DR is much more friendly and more customers oriented business like. My biggest disappointment is the fact that the Hotel advertised free Wi Fi but that was not the case. I couldn't get online on my lop top because the Wi Fi was not populated. When I went to the Front Desk for service, I was told that if I want Wi Fi on my computer, I must purchase or I can come down to the Lobby to be connected to the free Casino Wi Fi. Bad juju, purely monkey business. Free Wi Fi is free Wi Fi as long I'm in the Hotel vicinity.

We do offer free WiFi daily for an hour in the Lobby Area. Guests that desire unlimited WiFi can always upgrade to Royal Level or become members of the My Barceló Program to receive unlimited WiFi.

A good hotel and great location and beaches; good selection of restaurant options and good food on site. Had problems with the room temperature as defective thermostat and maintenance was slow to correct, but otherwise a good place to stay. Would probably return to this hotel again on a future trip to Aruba.

need to change the food once in awhile. it sucked having the same thing everyday . the Palms was the rest. for breakfast and lunch , same thing every day no changes .The Rest. you had to make Res. for were outstanding when you could get in . They said you had to make Res. but just go and you could get in most every time. if you made Res. it was 2 to 3 days out

We were very saddened to read your disappointment with the dining experiences, at Barceló we know that meals are an important aspect of our guests' overall holiday experience therefore we will make sure to take your comments into account to improve in this aspect of our services.
We are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced with the dinner reservations initially. The reason why you can always do a walk in is that most of the time guests do not cancel their reservations and do not show up at the restaurant, which leaves the impression that the restaurant is empty. However, dinner reservations are encouraged to ensure the guest can enjoy dinner at the time frame they wish to.

Our room was amazing, the cleaning staff was excellent

I don’t think the cost of our room was too high for the room type we were getting however with that cost I was expecting a different level of service compared to average non Royal level room price when I booked (partial ocean view, normal hotel style room,approx$2600)

We stayed in the Royal suite (2bedroom,3bath,full living and dining room, 7 days, 3 people, $8050)


For the room cost and level of room (I.e suite) the level of service was far below what we were expecting from past experiences at other hotels in Aruba and elsewhere. The staff was not outright rude however they were mostly not helpful. They were more concerned with chatting with their co-workers rather then being attentive. At other properties we have visited, as a Royal or suite level guest you are given extra courtesies such as pool or beach chair reservations, Butler service, etc. That is not the case here. We had to request multiple times to have our fridge refilled after days of it being empty. We waited 2.5 hours for room service after being told a much shorter time (30 mins) on 2 occasions (we figured they were just busy the first time). Several mornings while we were waiting for breakfast to be served, we remained alone with no staff to be seen in the Royal dining room for refill requests or polite conversation (they could be heard and seen behind kitchen doors giggling and massaging each other). Unless you were at the pool at 6am there was no chance of getting a pool area bed/lounger/chair until mid-late Afternoon.

The beach staff was great at bringing chairs out for you however there was little to no beach drink service (we saw him one time the first morning we were on the beach then never saw him again and we spent 3 full days of the time we were there on the beach)
