Great suite in a home close to beach and town of Oranjestad. There is a busy highway between home and beach, so take your time getting across. Once at beach, walk to restaurants, bars, beach, and there is a childrens water play area in ocean. Beautiful sunsets here too. The walk to town was about 1/3 mile and I suggest doing the walking tour downtown, very informative. We were glad we had a car because there was a kitchen in our unit and went to the Super Foods north of there to fill refrigerator. It also came in handy to go to the National Park Arikok, and Baby Beach. If you go deep sea fishing this refrigerator is great so you can freeze what you don't eat and take back to Florida.
The owner, Fred was not around when we were there, a little disappointing when so many reviews spoke of him. But Martina was and she was great. Put little post-its on door to let her know what we needed throughout week and when we got back from our activities they were there by doorstep. There is no "maid service", as Martina did not even have a key, one difference than being in a hotel but it was fine since she was so accommodating. You can even do a load of wash if you need too.
Problem areas were taken care of as best they could be but realize this is a beach home and there are little tiny ants that are in bathroom and kitchen if you don't clean up the kitchen real well after cooking. Also, there were a few items that needed fixing that were a nuisance, like the toilet always staying on and having to wait to make sure it stops by jiggling handle. Water there in Aruba is at a premium. The gardens around the home, inside the fenced area are emaculately maintained, quite a nice welcome when coming home everyday.
We stayed at the apartment for five days in March. Our host, Faramarz, was friendly and very accommodating--even making last minute arrangements to adjust the time of our stay when we had to delay our trip by a day due to a major snowstorm. The house was easy to get to--only a five minute drive from the airport, and we were able to park right outside of the gate leading to our entry into the apartment. The plants/gardens in the walkway outside of the apartment are beautiful, and provide a nice, private, tropical view from the windows inside. The apartment itself was safe, quiet, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with the basics, including a full stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer (with an ice maker), and a coffee maker. There is a nice set of table and chairs that provided a good spot to have our breakfast, morning coffee, and plan for the day. The bathroom has a large, walk-in shower, and due to the low humidity--our towels dried quickly every day. The furniture in the living room and bedroom were comfortable and had lots of storage (without feeling cramped). The large tv and internet services worked well as did the ceiling fans and air conditioning units. Faramarz was unobtrusive and only checked in on us occasionally to see if there was anything we needed. He was great about providing beach towels (upon request) that could also be used to access the beautiful pool at a nearby resort. The apartment is very conveniently located, with a beach and fantastic sea-side restaurant just right across the street and within a short-walk to town. While you don't need a car--one is helpful if you want to see some of the more "off the beaten path" locations on your own schedule. As noted above--it was super easy to find parking. We had a lovely stay and were sad to leave.
this is an apartment building close to town. If you don't mind no outside space and your just wanting an apartment style room, then this is good.
