Any cricket buff has to visit here. It's not far from the cruise port and gives you a piece of history especially the English fans.
Claude has the key and generally sita outside and will let you in and show you around. We gave him 10 dollars for his expertise. You can walk around yourself and feel the past. Would have loved to have seen a game but now a days it's used as recreation ground. Claude will answer your questions and let you go explore.
So happy we went

I dragged my lot across town to see if we could access the Recreation Ground and it seemed closed as we walked along the side. However, there was what seemed an access point, not sure if it was supposed to be open, which allowed us to walk into the stadium. So we took the opportunity and soon were standing next to the Richie Richardson stand on the overgrown pitch looking out across the field. A chap inside saw us and we asked if we could just grab a few pictures and he was fine, so great to get in and stand there in such a great and special spot if you like your cricket, as I do. To be honest the place is a bit run down and could do with an overhaul, including the field, but that didn't matter. I just stood in awe and looked all around the place. What a special spot and great visit. So pleased we chanced our arm and thanks to the ground staff who left us for ten minutes. Made my day before hitting the beach.

The home of cricket in Antigua until the construction of the Sir Vivian Richards Ground (which is also worth a visit), the ARG is THE place to visit for cricket lovers if only to see where Brian Lara scored his 400. In desperate need of a lot of TLC, the ARG is one of the iconic cricket grounds and it is fabulous just to walk around the ground, see the Honours Board and recall the amazing cricketing history made here. Situated pretty close to the centre of St John's, next to the prison!

This historical home for cricket and the venue for major cultural activities is located strategically in the heart of St. John's. It is the place where the renowned Brian Lara
made his historic triple century in cricket. Lovers of the sport of cricket and a thirst for nostalgia go there just to reflect on the good old days. Greatly in need of repairs to the double-decker stand and the surrounding walls, it is more a thing of history than of beauty.
