Owner description: Set in the beautiful countryside about half a mile south of Ruddington, Rushcliffe Country Park is an ideal place to get away from it all. With a network of over 8 kilometres of footpaths, grassland, conservation and landscaped areas, the park is excellent for walking, jogging, cycling, spotting wildlife and exercising your dog. Bring your family and a picnic and encourage your children to let off steam in the extensive play area, which has around 20 pieces of modern equipment for children up to the age of 12. The play area includes a swing suitable for less able children (safety equipment is available on request) and part of the equipment is accessible to wheelchair users. For older children there's a skateboard midi half pipe, and a 4X/ BMX cycle track situated nearby. Access to the park is free. The County Park has a visitor’s car park and for just £1, you can park for your whole visit (up to a full day).

This wasn't really a planned visit but more of a detour on the way home. Parking for £1 for a full day is a real bargain. There are plenty of places to walk and all the paths are well maintained and suitable for wheelchair access. In addition there is an outdoor gym and a really good childrens' play area. The whole place is really well maintained with quality equipment and plenty of benches around for those who want to sit and take in the sunshine or watch the abundance of water fowl.

This was the first time we had visited Rushcliffe Country Park, Ruddington for some times despite living only 15 minutes away and we were both surprised and delighted to see how much it had improved.

There are still large mown areas plus wild grassland and lakeside conservation areas but there are now footpaths and sections which are dog free, others in which dogs are allowed on leads and yet more where dogs can run free. There is also a much improved and expanded play area for children up to 12 years old plus a skateboard half pipe and BMX cycle track suitable those a little older. Disabled access and catering facilities have also been enhanced.

Car parking on site is £1 for all day although park entry is free and there is on road parking at no charge available immediately outside the park.

The park is very well maintained and exceptionally clean and litter free which makes it ideal for children and a joy for for walking, running, cycling, or just a quiet picnic on the grass or at the tables and benches provided.

There are various activities organised from competitive running open to all age groups to supervised den building in the woods for children.

As a bonus the Great Central Railway and associated Transport Heritage Museum are located right next door providing steam train rides and the opportunity for a fascinating look back in time.

During the working day from Monday to Friday the park and heritage centre are, understandably, much quieter which some may prefer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, especially walking round the lake and watching the swans and newly hatched chicks at close range. We'll be going back very soon.

Highly recommended.

The park is a great place to go to. We went with 3 young children and had a good walk around. There is a big lake to look at and walk around. There is a wooded area to walk around and hidden inside is a maze and lots of animal seats. The adventure play ground was very clean with not a single bit of litter on the floor there is a huge sand pit for the little ones and some big climbing frames for the bigger kids.

The whole area was very clean and tidy and there are plenty of toilets on site for people to use. There was an ice cream van on site when we went so that was good for refreshments. There is a shop on site for bits and bobs.
