“Base for Touring Scotland on bikes”

Me and friends have just spent a week at Wildwood on Moffat Manor Holiday Park, and let me tell you, we went there with the intentions of touring Scotland from there as the base, not expecting a great deal as it was only somewhere to lay our heads at the end of the day,
Well surprise surprise, the owners have thought of everyone who may stay there, TV, Wii, Radio, Books, Guides, Map in a book of Scotland which came in very handy, Games, just let me say they have tried to cater for everyone's needs to entertain, even a kite for the kids, and I dare say there was more, I just didnt look really.
The Bar/Bistro is great, friendly staff throughout the Park, a small shop on site with all the basics,
Me and the friends I went with will be booking again for next year (if not this year) and even though we was on bikes, please dont let that put you off, we was the only bikers there and we are all mature to the extent of being in our 60's, but I do recommend it to any biker who is sensible, and anyone else be it couples or families,
The truth of it is, I DONT write reviews for anything, but I felt I had to with this place, other places I have been to for the same purpose would only get flea pit reviews from me, so I dont write them...
To the owners I say a big thank you for a very pleasant week, I look forward to being back.
Forgot to say, you will be surprised at what is there for you to use, cleaning stuff etc, too much to list, you wont get this stuff at many places, you have to provide it.

Liked best: the surprise I had with all the stuff to use, not available at most places I've stayed
Liked least: Saturday morning, we came away. regards below, I'am disabled, steps would be a problem to some, not all.

“Excellent location”

As others have mentioned, the property was clean and set ready for us on arrival. Thankfully the heating system was superb as we had travelled with my elderly father and it was quite chilly as we arrived quite late in the day.
The facilities were functional and mostly in good working order. However the overall condition could do with some updating and t.l.c.
Only concern was the tricky steps into the property which were slippery because of the rain and bowed disconcertingly.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Location was a perfect base to head out from and was not overpriced. Communication was great and a last minute change was no trouble which was a big help.
Will definitely look at coming back again and hope the couple of bits that let it down will be sorted by the next visit.

“Lovely location-perfect for exploring.”
Reviewed 11 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The lodge is set in a lovely area. Beds were all made up with enough pillows and towels on them. Ideal for a family who want an affordable break as holidaying in the UK is pricy. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.
We were attending a wedding in the nearby Auchen castle so this was perfect and much cheaper. We made the most of the area, going for 3 runs and driving up to Edinburgh one day. It made more sense driving than going 20 miles back to Lockerbie to get the train plus the scenery is gorgeous.
The only downside I would say about the lodge is the dated pictures etc could do with modernising plus it's quite dark inside due to the woodland. It did smell a bit musty but that could be down to being unoccupied.
