If you don’t pull off, you have missed a fantastic view. The canyon is both colorful and large. I did not see buffalo, but they left a few strategic placed bombs. Watch your dog, say one eat some buffalo droppings. There is room to hike down into the canyon. Have your camera ready.

Painted Canyons were amazing and just right from the highway. It was easy to get to. Easy access to just pull in and park at the visitor center. As we were pulling in, buffalo were roaming free right next to our car. Beautiful colors in the rocks and scenery. Would recommend.

Really enjoyed the views from visitors center here. Very convienent to visit if just driving by.

We stopped here a few times for photos of the canyon views from above as the weather changed. We also took a ranger led hike down the canyon (Mon and Thurs at 9:30 for 1 hour and 1 mile loop).

Rangers are very friendly and helpful.

Lots of wildflowers in late spring/early summer in canyon.

Painted Canyon is absolutely beautiful. You pull in and park at visitor center/gift shop; there is no admission fees. You can walk around the rim of canyon..Less than a quarter mile. There is also a long path going to the bottom of the canyon that is less than a mile but is a moderate to difficult walk.

Stopped to see the view and visit the rest area. Beautiful view of the colorful rock formation for the area.
