absolutely beautiful views. totally similar to the grand canyon. the way the daylight shines off the canyon walls and water is a sight to see. the walk is easy, however, it is suggested to wear close toed shoes.

We took the ferry across Jenny Lake, followed the crowds to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, then returned to the lake and hiked up Cascade Canyon. There were no crowds on this trail. We saw lots of marmots. It was early June and there was still snow higher up. It was quite a climb and my legs were stiff the next day, but it was well worth it.

The Forks of Cascade Canyon Trail starts from the Jenny Lake West Shore Boat Dock, climbs 0.9 mi of horse trail to Cascade Canyon, and continues 3.5 mi into the canyon to a fork. The north fork continues 2.7 mi to Lake Solitude while the south fork continues 5.6 mi to Schoolroom Glacier and Hurricane Pass.

My husband and I hiked up to the fork, coupled with Inspiration Point and Hidden Falls, on a Wednesday in August. Cascade Canyon was our favourite hike in the Grand Teton NP. You don't even have to hike all the way to the fork. First half of the trail in the canyon (not the horse trail) was the most scenic while the second half of the trail was mostly in the forest. Although Inspiration Point and Hidden Falls were crowded, Cascade Canyon was not. If you hike up to Inspiration Point, you did most of the climbing already (950 ft) and might as well climb a bit more in Cascade Canyon (270 ft). The spectacular views of Grand Teton, Mount Owen and Teewinot are worth it.

This is a really great hike because it offers a lot, even for people who can't go too far. There's a waterfall early on and then the trail climbs to Inspiration Point. It's not a bad incline at all. The rest of the way the trail is pretty flat until you reach the last few miles when it climbs up to Solitude Lake. No matter your fitness level, you can enjoy this trail because it's scenic the whole way.

... make it this one. First mile is a strenuous climb, after which it levels out and offers incredible views of the mountains and waterfalls. We took the ferry over so turned around just before hitting Hidden Falls, and didn’t have time for Inspiration Point, but even without those two attractions I’d say this is one of the best trails I’ve ever done.
