Owner description: Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead—home of Iditarod Champion, Jeff King. Husky Homestead is widely heralded as an authentic look into rural lifestyles based on 40 years of Alaskan adventures: from freight hauling on Denali to crossing the finish line in Nome, Alaska with a champion Iditarod team. Cuddle puppies upon arrival and share an intimate view of the Alaskan Husky as the team explodes from the dog yard and witness their beauty in motion as they run on our treadmill before hitting the trail for a training run. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska's Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska's most rugged terrain. Dress in extra layers, wear comfortable shoes, bring bug repellent - and your camera! Our 2018 season runs from May 9th - September 14th.

This tour is well worth the money. Yes, you do get to hold husky puppies. It is also very informative and fun. It is a great opportunity to learn about how the dogs are trained and how the mushers prepare for the races.

The first thing after getting off the shuttle bus is to hold a puppy or two. So adorable. You then learn about the dogs and then about mushing. We were fortunate to have Jeff King talk to us about his experience mushing and the Iditarod. Learned a lot and gained an appreciation for the sport and the athletic dogs.

Didn't know what to expect, but came away very happy with the experience. Getting handed a puppy as you step off the shuttle is just the start. You can tell they love the dogs and take very good care of them The presentation was very informative and well done. We all enjoyed our time very much

Like puppies? (Who doesn't?!) You'll love this place - you'll have a chance to mingle with sweet puppies, and meet the men and women who train them. The history of sledding and competition is alive and continuing.

We really enjoyed our time at Husky Homestead! It was so much fun to hold the puppies and presentation was funny and very informative. We learned a lot about the Iditarod and it was quite amazing to see all the dogs and how they are trained. We loved the system that Jim King's daughters used to name all the puppies that are born! Amazing place.
