Owner description: Wildwood Escot is known as the Natural Place for good reason. In the 220 acres of parkland, threatened native species such as the iconic red squirrel and the secretive water vole have found sanctuary in surroundings steeped in history and filled with beautiful plants and champion trees. Meet Wildwood Escot’s wolves, lynx, family of otters, stunning birds of prey and other amazing animals. There are woodlands to explore, wetlands to navigate, a maze to solve and so much more.

Fantastic weather topped a fantastic family trip to this wonderful woodland area. We have been a few times previously and it never fails to bring a smile to us all. The Saxon Village is especially interesting and the kids (and grown ups) loved the zip wire. If you are lucky you may even see the Lynx, Red squirrel or Wildcat to name a few. There is loads of space to enjoy a picnic either before or after the many talks/shows that take place.

If you enjoy being outside you will not be disappointed with your trip (hopefully).

Our trip to Wildwood was great. There was loads for the whole family to do and we didn't get round all of it in a full day. Our boy loved the animals and in particular the wolves. The talks were good and short enough to retain the kids' interest. The maze was very difficult and we had to cheat! We'll do it properly next time.

The only small criticism was the commercial set up. The signage to the place is poor, the Snack Shack was closed on a hot Saturday and the car park is small. It feels like a bit more TLC could really make it a 5* place because all the staff we talked to were super-friendly and helpful.

Brilliant place to spend many hours wondering around the animals. The environment is relaxed and friendly and all the animals looked fit and healthy. We loved the place and well worth the entrance fee. Loads for kids to do and get involved in. Simply brilliant. We will definitely be going back for more visits.

First problem is finding the place. Local tourist info leaflets feature the wolves/wildlife. But the only signs in a relatively remote area to mark the place out are low-key and signed ESCOT with no indication of what is there. We went right past and nearly gave up - note to management - GET SOME BETTER AND MORE INFORMATIVE SIGNS PUT UP! We enjoyed the rose garden; birds of prey and otters. No sign alas of red squirrels, Lynx or of wolves which were the three we went to see. Unlucky I suppose. I'd have to say the place has seen better times (maybe they'd get more visitor income if the signs to get there were better!) with a generally run-down feeling and, frankly, the toilets are a disgrace (no hot or cold water in the gents and all well past their use by date). School report - could do much better.
